No Concern About Future of Iran-Italy Economic Ties
TEHRAN – Outgoing Italian Ambassador to Tehran Mauro Conciatori during his meeting with chairman of Iran’s Chamber of commerce Mr. Gholam-Hossein Shafei reiterated that Italian investors are still keen for investment in Iran and there is no need to concern about the future of Iran-Italy economic ties.

The Italian diplomat’s term in Iran ended and he was to leave Tehran yesterday. Before his departure and on Wednesday afternoon, he met Mr. Shafei and exchanged their views about the future of ties between both states.

During the meeting, Mr. Conciatori hailed Iran’s Chamber of Commerce as well as Iran-Italy Joint Chamber, underscoring that cooperation between both countries will be everlasting in every level.

He added that in the past five years, significant measures and jobs have been taken and done between Iran and Italy, and there are huge similarities between people of both countries and those similarities have made impossible missions become possible.

He further pointed to the trade volume of both states as well as eagerness of Italian businessmen for investment in Ira, emphasizing that there is no need to concern about the future of economic relations of Iran and Italy.

Conciatori went on to say that despite U.S. sanctions, the trade volume of both countries is more than $4b while both countries are deepening the relations for better relations in the future. He assured Mr. Shafei that the economic relation between Iran and Italy will jump soon.

He noted that Giuseppe Perrone is to replace him and he is to arrive in Ira today (Saturday).

Meanwhile Mr. Shafei, for his part, hailed performance of Conciatori during his mission, adding that Iran and Italy’s relation was reinforced during Conciatori’s mission. He added that during the Italian diplomat presence in Tehran, the relation between private sectors of both countries became solid and Italian President and Prime Minister as well as other high-ranking officials visited Tehran.

He added that although both countries were struggling with the U.S. sanctions for cooperation, due to efforts of joint Iran-Italy Chamber and especially Mr.  ambassador’s  efforts, bilateral economic relation was strengthened and both sides reached significant achievements.

Shafei reiterated that Italy is among priorities of Iran in Europe and all economic sectors of Iran are in close contact with Italy, and predicted a bright future for economic cooperation between Iran and Italy.
