IDRO to Launch First Glass Fiber Producing Plant
TEHRAN – Deputy Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mohammad Baqer Aali says the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) in collaboration with its foreign partner  has launched the first glass fiber producing plant which will cost $100m.

During his visit to the site of the plant in the industrial park of Marand town, Mr. Aali pointed to the getting the approval for launching this industrial unit, adding that after getting finance for the Marand glass fiber project, it will come on stream in two years.

He noted that since glass fiber is of the major materials used in composite industries which are used in producing types of fiberglass and waterproof insulators.

He reiterated that the main goal behind launching the project is to save forex and outflow of forex and reducing dependence on imports and boon in production.

Mr. Aali added that the process for constructing the plant has been accelerated by the ministry in collaboration with governor general office of the province and by financing the budget, the project can come on stream in 2 years.

He noted that the plant can produce 30 million tons of glass fiber annually.

The project is pursued on a plot of land around 11,000 hectares.
