Switzerland Urged to Operationalize Payment Channel
TEHRAN - Health Minister Dr. Saeed Namaki urged Switzerland to accelerate the operation of its payment channels to let companies sell food, medicine, and medical devices to Iran.

Namaki yesterday met Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Markus Leitner and exchanged views on cooperation between both states.

In the meeting, Mr. Namaki said that wise Swiss investors know that era of folly of Donald Trump has reached its end and Iranian nation will pass this turn, adding that it is a wise act to invest in a country with population over than 85m which is  a good gateway for a 300-million people market in the region for Switzerland’s exports.

He also hailed Switzerland for sending humanitarian aids during recent floods in Iran, adding that in the hard times even a small message from countries can console people.

Namaki went on to say that 66 universities and medical science faculties are active in the country in medical training and teaching, and the country has achieved good successes.

He added that currently all provinces of the country have universities or medical faculties and the country enjoys good scientific base in the medical sciences, and cooperation with other countries in the medical or non-medical fields should be expanded and Switzerland fortunately has good experience in medical sciences.

He went on to say that Iran has had good Swiss partners since 60 years ago and currently, major Swiss companies in the food and medicine fields invest in Iran and it indicates Swiss investors’ satisfaction because they are well aware that Iran’s market is a profitable and sustainable market.

Namki then urged Swiss Ambassador to push his country for accelerating the operation of special payment channel for Iran to let companies sell food and medicines. He also urged Swiss banks to cooperate with Iran for trade of food and medicines. The minister also assured the ambassador for government’s facilities for foreign investments and presence of Swiss companies.

The Swiss Ambassador, for his part, expressed his sympathy to recent flood-victims, adding that Swiss government’s aids for them indicates the Swiss government and nation’s sympathy over the floods in the country.

Leitner reiterated that is pursuing the issue of banking and payment channel and soon he will announce the result.
