Minister Calls for Fight Against  Middlemanship, Low Quality Goods
TEHRAN – Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani has called for serious measures against middlemanship and production of low quality domestic goods.

Speaking in a forum marking the Protecting Consumers’ Rights Day, Rahmani said that corruption will kill any industry and underscored fight with this issue, urging the related supervisory bodies to put an end to the middlemanship in the country.

Rahmani also reiterated that if producers are after exporting their products and even dominating the local market, they should produce high quality goods because Iranians deserve high quality products.

The minister reiterated that producing low quality goods is itself a threat for producers themselves and it will harm their credits, adding that exports of low quality goods will not last for long time and it will defame Iranian goods, too.

The minister reiterated that the ministry will do support domestic production and it has different programs for production boon.

He went on to say that 1700 inactive production units became active last year and it is expected 2200 more to become active this year.

Meanwhile yesterday, First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said that promotion of export of non-oil commodities is the main priority of the country.

Exports promotion of goods and services is the main and vital priority of the country, he said, adding, “Promoting exports is the most important driving force of production boom.”

Speaking in the meeting of Supreme Council of Non-Oil Exports Promotion on Monday, he stated, “Capability of exporting products, goods and services to the regional and international markets is one of the salient indicators behind success and progress of countries.”

Today, export of products is a vital issue that should be taken into serious consideration, he said, adding, “Effective steps should be taken in order to offer high-quality products to the international markets.”

Jahangiri pointed to the significance of export of non-oil products in the current year (started March 21, 2019) and emphasized, “Promotion of export of goods and services is the main and vital priority of the country, so that economic enterprises and executives of industrial and production firms should take this issue into consideration.”

He pointed to the significance of neighboring countries and target markets in the promotion of trade and taking advantage of capacity of neighboring countries to increase exports and called on the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to use high capabilities and potentials of Iran Chamber of Commerce in order to compile necessary strategies for the removal of exports barriers and facilitate trade exchanges.

The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade is tasked with promoting exports, Jahangiri added.
