Iran-Turkey’s 30-Billion-Dollar Trade Balance Is Possible
TEHRAN – Iran’s Road and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Eslami says there is a strong determination among leaders of Iran and Turkey which can materialize the annual 30-biilon-dollar trade balance between both countries by boosting cooperation in the transport sector.

In the joint conference after the 8th Iran-Turkey Joint Transport Commission in Tehran, Eslami said that holding the meeting after seven years and in this critical condition carries an important message which indicates strong determination of leaders of Iran and Turkey to boost all-out cooperation.

He went on to say that materializing the target for boosting the bilateral trade-balance is possible with recent coordination and grounds for boosting trade.

He added that ministers of transportation of both countries play a key role هد expansion of cooperation and easing the trade and economic exchange.

Eslami said that during the meeting, both countries signed four valuable MoUs.  He added that both countries made important decisions and agreements on the road transportation and facilitating the way for trucks.

He noted that Iran and Turkey reached an agreement on the railway sector for expanding interactions for transit of goods to the Central Asia and Europe as well as restoring the passenger rail between Tehran and Istanbul and Ankara.

Eslami also said that both countries signed an agreement on boosting marine cooperation.

Meanwhile Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan, for his part, criticized the U.S. unilateral sanctions on Iran, adding that such sanctions cannot harm the bilateral relations of the country based on the international law.

He added that cooperation of both countries in the third party to materialize the economic targets of Iran and Turkey is on the agenda.

Turhan reiterated that both countries are determined to expand cooperation and recent meetings between their high-ranking officials prove his claim.

He also said that transport is crucial for expansion of economic expansion and the issue was discussed during the meeting in Tehran.

Turhan reiterated that sustainability in the rail, cargo and passenger rail sector is very important and a committee has been set up to work on the issue and it is to meet in Turkey within a month.

He also pointed to the agreement for passage of wagons and trains of six countries of Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, adding that the joint committee of transport of Iran and Turkey will be held a meeting in the upcoming months.
