Iran runners-up at Sabre World Cup
Iran finished in second place at the International Fencing Federation (FIE) men’s Sabre World Cup in Padoue in Italy on Sunday.

Team Melli, consisting of Ali Pakdaman, Mojtaba Abedini, Mohammad Fotouhi and Mohammad Rahbari, lost to reigning world champions South Korea 45-28 in the final match.

On their way to the final match, Iran defeated Spain 45-16 and Canada 45-27 to reach quarterfinals.

Peyman Fakhri’s team beat Hungary 45-37 to book a place in the semis, where they edged silver medalists and hosts Italy 45-43.

Italy finished in third place after defeating Romania.
