The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) have conducted major naval exercises in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

“The exercise was conducted with the aim of controlling and safeguarding the international waterway, within the framework of annual IRGC schedule for military drills,” Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif, the spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said, pointing to the last week’s IRGC naval drills in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC spokesman said “IRGC chief expressed his satisfaction with the successful naval exercises of Revolutionary Guards Corps.”

He further added that the IRGC chief “stressed the need for maintaining and enhancing full defense preparedness in order to ensure the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz and confront the threats and potential adventures [at sea] posed by the enemies.”
