Iraq’s Ambassador to Iran Rajeh Saber Aboud Al-Mousavi said on Monday that behavior of a country (the US) will not be able to affect Baghdad-Tehran ties and Iraq will never leave Tehran alone during sanctions era.

He made the remarks after Prime Minister Heidar Al-Abadi said earlier that Iraq will follow up sanctions against Iran for the Iraqi nation’s interests.

Of course, later Al-Abadi reversed his remarks, saying that his country opposes sanctions against Iran and it will only pursue sanctions regarding transactions using dollars and will not obey other embargoes.

The ambassador who attended session of Arbaeen Central Headquarters in the premises of Interior Ministry said that Al-Abadi’s remarks merely pertained to trades in dollar, as Iran-Iraq relationship is an issue of death and life, red line and major strategy of Iraq.

“As our president has stressed Iran is our brother and we will stay alongside Iran,” he said.

“A country’s behavior will never affect Iran-Iraq ties and we will never leave Iran alone, as it did not leave alone in anytime and we will never forget Iran’s services to our country. We are brothers and our ties are unbreakable,” he stressed.

Iraq’s ambassador also voiced his country’s readiness for rendering services to the Iranian pilgrims on Arbaeen Day.

The Iraqi government accepts all Iran’s proposals to hold the ceremony in the best manner, he said.
