Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ghasemi said that the recent election in Zimbabwe was monitored by an Iranian delegation and to Iran it was fair, peaceful and liberal.

“To Iranian monitory delegation, the recent election in Zimbabwe was liberal, peaceful, and fair and at the same time credible,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi.

The Iranian diplomat made the remarks on Wednesday after recounting the details of the journey of the Iranian diplomatic delegation.

He added that the election for Zimbabwean parliament, local councils and presidential post was held on Monday.

He added that the Iranian delegation was invited by the Zimbabwean government. The Iranian supervisors visited the ballot collecting centers and watched the ballot counting process. “They found no violation of laws in their observations.”
