The Political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Crops (IRGC), Brigadier General Yadollah Javani said Sat. that Iran’s retaliatory threat is credible against US’ threat to chock off Iran’s oil exports.

“If the Americans wish to behave like a bully, it is only natural for the Iranian armed forces to use their capabilities in order to protect the interests of the Iranian nation. If any country seeks to endanger the interests of the Islamic Republic, Iran will in turn jeopardize that country’s interests with the help of its own means,” Brigadier General Yadollah Javani told Iranian Tasnim News Agency on Saturday.

“Iran’s geopolitical position is such that without the presence of the Islamic Republic it is impossible to ensure the security of the waterways in the region,” the IRGC general said, adding “this security is influenced by Iran’s political will. For that, when a country threatens to stop Iranian oil exports, Iran’s reciprocal threat is a credible one.”

The facts of recent decades show that the most important factor behind instability in the region has been foreign interference, he said, noting the instances of instability in the Syria, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan as a case in point.

He also said that the Strait of Hormuz enjoys a high level of security today thanks to the Islamic Republic’s role.
