In a joint meeting on Monday, the health officials of Iran’s IRGC and Omani Army agreed to develop bilateral cooperation.

A health delegation from the medical department of the Omani Army, headed by Colonel Al-Haresi, the Deputy Head of the Medical Department of the Omani Army, met with Brigadier General Ahmad Abdollahi, the IRGC’s Deputy Commander for Health, Rescue, Treatment and Medical Education on Monday morning.

The Omani delegation is visiting Iranian capital city of Tehran and earlier on Saturday met with Brigadier General Mostafa Maddah, the Head of Iranian Army’s Medical Department.

During the meeting, the two sides underlined the expansion of bilateral ties, relations, interactions, and cooperation between the health departments of Iranian and Omani armed forces.

Brigadier General Abdollahi described the meeting as an opening to a new chapter of bilateral relations between the armed forces of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“IRGC’s health and treatment department has gained valuable experience in the 8 years of the Holy Defense and is ready to share this experience with the armed forces of the friendly and neighboring country of Oman as IRGC is enjoying domestic capacities, and expert and efficient human resources,” said the Iranian commander.

Also at the same meeting, Colonel Al-Haresi highlighted that Iranian armed forces have always been enjoying a high level of quality in terms of medical services.

“We are willing to use the experience of the armed forces of Iran in different areas of health and medicine as a role model for ourselves,” he asserted.

Ever since Iran helped Oman crush the Dhofar rebellion in the 1970s, the two countries have enjoyed close ties that only expanded after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran. The two countries have organized joint military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz since 2014, and have signed multiple trade and energy cooperation agreements. Omani leader Sultan Qaboos met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in 2017 to reaffirm his commitment to the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
