Iran’s junior basketball team will play Iraq instead of Syria in the opening match of the 2018 WABA Junior Championship in Iranian city of Gorgan.

One day before the opening of the 2018 WABA Junior Championship in Iranian city of Gorgan, the Syrian squad slated to line up against the hosts have not yet arrived in Iran and the organizers of the event made changes in the schedules of the tournament.

According to the new set of fixtures Iranian basketball players will line up against Iraq while Lebanon and Jordan will play the second match of the day.

The formerly slated fixtures between Iran and Syria as well as Iraq and Jordan are postponed to the last day of the tourney on August 02.

The 2018 edition of WABA Junior Championship attended by national teams of Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria, will officially kick off in the Iranian northern city of Gorgan on Saturday.
