 Iranian national men’s team (Green) won the title of Asian Nations Cup for Team Championship in Rapid section, for the first time in its history.

The 2018 Asian Nations Cup is a team event for Asian chess federations taking place in Hamedan province in Iran since July 27.

In Rapid section held on Friday, Iranian team, including Parham Maghsoudlou, Pouya Eidani, Seyed Mohammad Amin Tabatabaee, Alireza Firouzja and Masoud Mossadeghpour, finished first with 12 points.

The 7-round Swiss tournament features teams of 4 players with 1 reserve. The time control is 15 minutes for the entire game, with a 10-second increment from move 1. Teams score 2 match points for a win and 1 for a draw, with game points deciding the winner if match points are tied.

This is the first time that the Iranian national team won the title in Asia. China and India also ranked second and third, respectively.

Meantime, Iranian national women’s team ranked third in the same section with 9 points.

China, India, Iran (Green), Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Iran (Red), Uzbekistan, Iran White, Bangladesh, Syria, Oman and Afghanistan are the teams vying in the men’s division.

China, Kazakhstan, India, Vietnam, Iran (Green), Uzbekistan, Iran (Red) and Syria compete in the women’s division.
