Iranian practitioners snatched seven medals, including three gold, one silver and three bronze at the Asian Karate Championship in Amman, Jordan.

Iranian athletes managed to grab six medals in kumite and one on kata.

In men’s over-84 kg category, Saleh Abazari overpowered Japanese rival 8-0 in the final and picked up the gold medal.

Majid Hassannia, in men’s under-55 kg category won the match against Saudi representative and grabbed another gold for his country.

In the final match of women’s over-84 kg category, Hamideh Abbasali defeated her rival from Chinese Taipei 8-0 and gained the third silver for Iran.

Ali Asghar Asiabari in men’s under-75 kg category managed to reach the final but lost to Jordan’s athlete and received the silver.

In women’s under-61 kg category, Shima AleSa’di overpowered Uzbek rival in third place playoff and pocketed the bronze medal.

Also Mehdi Khodabakhshi in men’s under-84 kg category won another bronze by winning his Indonesian rival.

In women’s kata competition, Iranian team consisting of Elnaz Taghipour, Najmeh Ghazizadeh and Shadi Jafari gained victory over India 5-0 and collected the bronze medal.

Asian Karate Championship started on June 13 and will wrap up on Sunday, June 15.
