The head of Iran’s nuclear chief says If the Europeans and other countries that seek to preserve the JCPOA do not take practical steps to oppose the US actions, the world will witness the JCPOA collapse and will face a scary future.

Ali Akbar Salehi, the Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, made the remarks in a panel on the Middle Eastern issues in Norway attended by Norwegian and Omani foreign ministers on Friday.

Salehi referred to the Leader of Islamic Republic’s fatwa that has banned achieving any kinds of nuclear weapons, stressing that Iran needs nuclear energy and believes in a win-win solution to its nuclear issue.

He further noted that the US policy of ‘zero enrichment’ with regard to Iran’s nuclear program cannot succeed and stressed that the JCPOA was achieved when the US government put aside that policy.

The Iranian top nuclear official also underlined that the Islamic Republic as always stresses the necessity of a regional dialogue and mutual understanding between the countries of the region to resolve the crises.

Also at the meeting, other participants criticized the US government’s policy toward the JCPOA, calling on the EU and the remaining signatories to the deal to take appropriate steps in that regard and emphasized regional talks.

The panelists also stressed that that the implications of some countries’ efforts to polarize the Middle East and Persian Gulf region were explicit, adding that the US current policies have made its allies unite against its unilateral policies and have led the Europe to pursue their own independent economic policies.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi arrived in Norway in the middle of the week to attend the 16th edition of the Oslo Forum and wrapped up his visit and arrived back in Tehran on Saturday morning.
