Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, who is in Norway to take part at Oslo Forum, paid a visit to the country’s Radiation Protection Authority on Wednesday and held talks with the managers and experts at the center.

During the meeting, Director of the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority, Ole Johan Harbitz, explained the center’s tasks and responsibilities, and shared with the Iranian delegation Norway’s experiences with encountering nuclear incidents at home as well as in other countries.

The Norwegian side also discussed the center’s international cooperation, and the Iranian delegation expressed appreciation at NRPA’s cooperation in transporting 60 tons of natural uranium from Kazakhstan to Iran.

The transportation of the 60 tons of natural uranium, amounting to around 6 million US dollars, took place in Dec. 2015 with assistance from Norway as part of the the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

Salehi, for his part, discussed Iran’s international activities, especially those related to the EU, in the field of nuclear safety after the implementation of the JCPOA.

He further proposed establishing communication between the two countries’ centers for nuclear safety, and expansion of bilateral cooperation, which were warmly welcomed by the Norwegian side.
