Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said Iran will resist US unilateral pressures and sanctions relying on its abilities.

Responding to a senior US State Department official’s announcement that Washington is pressuring its allies to slash Iranian oil imports to zero level by November,” Bahram Ghasemi said “it seems that Trump has forgot that today world, in the light of technological progress and the presence and role of public opinion in political and international issues, is not like the past.”

“The United States cannot and should not proceed to the continuation and intensification of its failed and unilateral policies, a policy that had always been criticized in Trump’s own campaign remarks against its previous administrations; the United States must accept that it has lost its previous stand in the world.

He noted that imposing unilateral policies on other countries is a medieval policy, adding that “today, no country has the right to impose its desires and demands on others, and other countries will not accept this policy neither.”

Ghasemi, stating that the Islamic Republic can resist these pressures, said, “Trump, whether with the illegal exit of JCPOA or its unilateral policies, is trying to force the Islamic Republic into emotional and unwise moves, however, Iran, despite the pressures, will continue its peaceful policies to fight terrorism and will keep on its efforts to work for stability and security in the region.
