Isa Kalantari, the Vice President head Iran’s Environment Department made the remarks in the Second Ministerial on Climate Action (MoCA) which was held in Brussels, Belgium on June 20-21, 2018.

In part of his address to the meeting, Kalantari said that politicizing the climate conventions is against the spirit of collective agreements between world countries.

He said that the industrial countries have the historical responsibility to invest heavily in the field of environment and they need to help their developing counterparts on environment.

The Iranian official referred to the Iran’s immense investment in the field of the environment, lashing out at the United States for the sanctions imposed on Iran’s economy.

The head of Iran’s Environment Department held separate meetings with the Norwegian and German environment ministers as well as Miguel Arias Canete, the European Commissioner for Energy, on the sidelines of the high-profile MoCA to discuss expansion of cooperation on environment issues including transfer of related knowledge and technology, optimizing energy consumption, dust storms etc…
