Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will leave Tehran on Sunday evening for a four-leg tour of Africa and South America.

Heading a ranking political and economic delegation, the top Iranian diplomat would travel to Senegal, Namibia, Brazil and Uruguay, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi announced Saturday.

Apart from meetings with the political, economic and parliamentary officials of the four nations, Zarif is scheduled to attend sessions on bilateral trade and address meetings at research centers in those countries, according to the spokesman.

Foreign Minister Zarif’s entourage in the trip would include representatives of tens of companies and entrepreneurs in various fields from both the state-run and private sectors.

In comments last month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the policy of constructive interaction with the world in the new Iranian year, which started on March 21, also saying that the Islamic Republic will never compromise its national interests.
