TEHRAN — Two Iranian animated films will be competing in the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which will run in the French city from June 11 to 16.

“Run, Rustam, Run” by Hossein Molayemi will be competing in the perspective short films category, and “Mr. Deer” by Mojtaba Musavi is an entry in the short films category.

The animation “Run, Rustam, Run” tells the story of Rustam, a main character of Persian poet Ferdowsi’s epic masterpiece Shahnameh, who travels into the future and comes to Tehran in 2017.

The story of “Mr. Deer” is set in an unknown period of history in a ruined subway station that is similar to those found in modern European cities. People in this society have animal faces and have forgotten humanity.
