Iranian para weightlifters collected five gold, two silver and three bronze medals to stand on top of the podium in 2017 Asian Youth Para Games.

Iranian disabled weightlifter Alireza Izadi stood first in the 3rd 2017 Asian Youth Para Games which is underway in Dubai, the UAE.

Competing in 49kg weight category, Izadi lifted a total of 132 kilograms to rank first and earn a gold medal.

Also, Ahamdi won the trophy at +107kg category to bring home another trophy for the country.

Iran’s other representative, Abolfazl Shahabadi (148kg), came third with an overall record of 142 kilograms.

The 2017 Asian Youth Para Games, also known as the 3rd Asian Youth Para Games, parallels the 2017 Asian Youth Games, as a multi-sport event for Asian athletes with disability. The event was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The 2017 Asian Youth Para Games will come to an end on December 14.

During the second round of the Asian Para Games held in Malaysia in 2013, Iran snatched 27 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze medals.
