TEHRAN – Iran’s Ambassador to Belarus Mustafa Oveisi, and Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoT) Anatoli Siwak discussed transportation issues in Minsk.
At the meeting, which was held in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, Iran’s ambassador emphasized on the expansion of the bilateral and multilateral cooperation of the two countries in the field of rail and road transportation. Oveisi stressed on the importance of the North-South Corridor in reducing costs and shortening the distance between Asian countries like India and Iran and the Baltic region.
The Belarusian minister, for his part, hailed the North-South Corridor and welcomed the development of land transport relations and facilitation of air transport between the two countries, noting that the expansion of cooperation within the framework of a joint transport committee would be in the interests of the two sides.
Promoting cooperation in the field of road construction and transportation machinery was another subject discussed in the meeting. The Belarusian side expressed its willingness to support the expansion of cooperation between Belarusian companies and Iranian counterparts in the field of manufacturing transportation equipment and machinery.
The meeting came after Es’hagh Jahanigiri met and talked with Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Sochi, Russia.
