TEHRAN – Iranian director Vahid Jalilvand’s acclaimed drama “No Date, No Signature” won two awards at the 58th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece, the organizers announced on Sunday.
The film received the Silver Alexander, the festival’s special jury award, while “Ravens” by Jens Assur from Sweden won the Golden Alexander for the best film.
“No Date, No Signature” also received the FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) Award at the festival.
Starring Navid Mohammadzadeh, Amir Aqai and Hedyeh Tehrani, “No Date, No Signature” tells the story of Dr. Nariman, a forensic pathologist who has a car accident with a motorcyclist and injures his 8-year-old son.
The film won two top prizes — best director award for Jalilvand and best actor award for its star Mohammadzadeh — in the Orizzonti section at the 74th Venice International Film Festival in September.
Iranian actor Peyman Moaadi was one of the jury members of this edition of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
The special jury award for best director – a Bronze Alexander – went to Hlynur Palmason for “Winter Brothers”, a co-production of Denmark and Iceland.
