Mile Jedinak’s hat-trick booked Australia’s place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Australia defeated Honduras 3-1 (3-1 on aggregate) in the 2018 World Cup playoff on Wednesday.

In the match held at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, the Aston Villa defender opened the scoring for Socceroos in the 54th minute and scored two goals from the penalty spot in the 71st and 85th minutes.

Honduras captain Maynor Figueroa scored a consolation goal in the injury time.

Australia became the 31st team to qualify and the list will be completed when New Zealand play Peru tomorrow.

Asian teams Iran, Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia have already qualified for the prestigious competition.
