TEHRAN – Iranian director Karim Lakzadeh’s “A Girl in the Room” was selected as best short at the Beirut International Film Festival, the organizers announced on Thursday.
The film is about an elderly man and his friends at a guesthouse, in which they are preparing to welcome the man’s daughter who is coming to visit her father after 25 years of living in Germany.
“The Guy Came on Horseback” by Iranian director Hossein Rabiei Dastjerdi was also screened in the short film category, which also featured 14 other films such as “Missed Call” by Christy Whaibe from France and “Story of a job Interview” by Alkim Ozmen from Turkey.
The organizers of the festival also paid tribute to legendary Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami by screening some of his films, including “Take Me Home”, “Where Is the Friend’s Home”, “24 Frames” and “A Taste of Cherry”.
