TEHRAN– Senior MP Boroujerdi said Sat. that Iran’s compliance with the nuclear agreement has been repeatedly confirmed by the IAEA and the US Congress cannot say otherwise.

Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that in reaction to the possibility of the US Congress declaring Iran’s noncompliance with the JCPOA instead of Trump, adding “Iran’s compliance with the nuclear agreement has been time and again confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency as an eligible international body. The US Congress cannot declare anything contrary to this.”

He went on to add, “the US president has been pressured by the Zionists into playing a game whose main loser will definitely be him, because what he seeks by violating the nuclear deal is to put pressure on Iran.”

Washington Post has reported that US President Trump is expected to announce next week that he will “decertify” the international nuclear deal with Iran, saying it is not in the national interest of the United States and will leave the actual work of dealing with the consequences of that decision to Congress. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis who has expressed support for the deal suggested he did not believe taking the step to decertify would scrap the agreement.
