TEHRAN  – Jair Marrufo has been chosen to officiate Iran and Germany in the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Iran started with a 3-1 win over Guinea in Group C on Saturday, while Germany earned a late 2-1 victory over Costa Rica.

Iran will play Germany at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao, India on Tuesday.

Jair Marrufo, 40, is an American soccer referee of Mexican descent. He has been a referee in Major League Soccer since 2002 and a FIFA referee since 2007.

Marrufo was 2008 MLS Referee of the Year.
