Iranian Leader’s senior adviser Ali Akbar Velayati congratulated Syrian government and nation on the lifting of the three-year blockade organized by ISIL terrorists.

“I would like to felicitate the strong Syrian nation on the lifting of Deir Ezzor blockade, a nation which withstood brutal and inhumane crimes of ISIL terrorists until it witnessed victory and the break of blockade over this important region in Syria,” said Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council, Ali Akbar Velayati, on Wednesday.

He further expressed hope for the complete eradication of terrorists operating under any name and ideology and targeting the oppressed people of the region.

On Tuesday, the Syrian government forces’ operation broke the three-year siege of the city of Deir Ezzor, located on the shores of the Euphrates River to the northeast of Damascus. The Syrian army supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces has been advancing toward Deir Ezzor from three directions as part of an operation to free the city launched in August.
