TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Mehdi Eshghi claimed a gold medal at the 2017 United World Wrestling (UWW) Cadet World Championships.
Eshghi defeated Kanata Yamaguchi from Japan 6-0 in the final match of the 54kg.
Furthermore, Meysam Zare beat Oleksandr Vyshniak from Ukraine 3-1 in the 76kg and won a bronze medal. And in the 100kg weight class, Mehdi Hashemi overpowered Temraz Ismaylov from Azerbaijan 10-0.
Iran’s Abbas Ali Foroutan in the 85kg and Mohammad Ashghar Nokhodi in the 69kg had already won a silver and a bronze medal respectively.
Iran freestyle team finished in fourth place with 53 points.
Russia won the title, bagging 73 points, followed by USA (66 points) and Azerbaijan (61 points).
