Issuing declaration, BRICS leaders supported world powers’ nuclear deal with Iran.

While the US administration is looking for an excuse to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), BRICS leaders unveiled the Xiamen Declaration on Monday and supported the nuclear deal (JCPOA).

According to Financial Express, the Xiamen Declaration of BRICS stated, “we firmly support the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear issue and call upon all relevant parties to comply fully with their obligations and ensure full and effective implementation of the JCPOA to promote international and regional peace and stability.”

Meetings of the BRICS nations’ leaders started in China’s southeastern city of Xiamen on September 3.

This year, the summit is being held in a “BRICS Plus format”, which means that apart from the five member states-Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa- other countries have been invited: Egypt, Mexico, Thailand, Guinea and Tadjikistan.

BRICS support for JCPOA is the second blow which President Trump’s administration received after White House recent efforts to pave the way to withdraw from the JCPOA.
