Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said on Thursday that after the withdrawal from JCPOA, the US faced widespread condemnation.

“The United States has faced widespread condemnation after the JCPOA exit,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Thursday, adding “American elites and influential people in Britain, Germany and France have also condemned Washington’s move.”

“When the former head of the CIA becomes the US secretary of state, one should not think much of the US policy,” Boroujerdi said in apparent reference to Mike Pompeo’s new foreign policy to contain Iran, adding Pompeo is not aware of diplomatic affairs.

The Iranian lawmaker pointed out that what was said about the regional issues, including Syria, Iraq and Yemen, by the US Secretary of State, was aimed at diverting attention from the reality that the US is the main supporter of terrorist groups, particularly the ISIL.

He noted that Iran has repeatedly stated in the past that continuing the missile industry is a ‘permanent policy’, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has rejected to have the weapons of mass destruction and it is proud of that policy.

According to Boroujerdi, Iran is opposed to the United States’ action in manufacturing and testing new nuclear bombs in violation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), adding that Iran’s missile program is a means of deterrence and a tool of defense.

“Today, we can build a new generation of centrifuges and we can quickly increase uranium enrichment on a massive scale,” the Iranian lawmaker emphasized.

He said the United States should know that Iran is not like Libya or any other country.

He further stressed that Europe needs to take practical steps to fulfill its promises to secure Iran’s interests in the nuclear deal.
