Iran’s nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi heading a delegation has arrived in Rome for a six-day visit to hold talks with Italian officials and attend Edoardo Amaldi conf. on nuclear safety.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, is scheduled to attend the 20th Edoardo Amaldi Conference co-organized by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei under the theme of “International Cooperation for Enhancing Nuclear Safety, Security, Safeguards and Non-Proliferation”.

The conference will also hold a session dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the IAEA and of the Euratom Treaty with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, as well as Yukiya Amano, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency delivering keynote lectures alongside 40 other speakers from the four continents of Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

Ali Akbar Salehi will pay a visit to Italy’s National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) on Monday and deliver speech at the Amaldi conference on Tuesday.

He is also slated for a meeting with the Minister of Education, Universities and Research Valeria Fedeli, and pay a visit to a nuclear medical center for cancer treatment in Pavia, northern Italy, on Friday.

Salehi will conclude his visit to Rome on Tuesday and depart for London at the official invitation of British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
