Iran Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani on Thursday in a telephone conversation with Asad Qaiser, the new Pakistani Speaker of National Assembly, congratulated him on taking the new post.

Larijani expressed satisfaction over developing ties between the two Muslim countries in various sectors and called for further expansion of parliamentary cooperation during his tenure.

Referring to regional developments, Iran’s Majlis speaker said Iran and Pakistan are now regarded as two important nations exerting significant impact on the Muslim world as well as the entire region.

Further exchange of ideas and visits between officials in the two countries will result in restoration of stability and peace in the region, Larijani said.

He also called on both sides to try to benefit from all capabilities in the fields of economy and agriculture in line with bilateral interests.

The new Pakistani speaker of National Assembly, for his part, expressed thanks to his Iranian counterpart saying, deeply-rooted, cultural and religious ties between the two countries will be regarded as an asset to broaden such ties mainly in parliamentary sector.

Pakistan welcomes any move to bolster unity and solidarity among Islamic countries leading to restoration of peace in the region, Qaiser stressed.
