Iranian teams including Qazvin Islamic Azad University team MRL have claimed first and second places at various categories of World Robotics Championship in Montreal, Canada.   

The Montreal 2018 RoboCup wrapped up on June 22, and the Iranian teams returned home with three gold, three silver and one bronze medals.

The MRL team from Qazvin Islamic Azad University, which participated at the event with two other Iranian teams, finished in first place in three categories of “rescue simulation”, “moving objects with rescue robot”, and “technical competition of humanoid robot”.

Students of other Iranian universities finished in second place in three categories of “kid-size humanoid robots’”, “teen-size humanoid robots”, and “rescue robots”.

The Iranian team finished in third place at the “industrial robots” category. The team also finished in fifth place at the student category.

Teams from Iran, Germany, US, Portugal, Austria, China, Brazil, the Netherlands, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, Canada, Singapore, etc. took part in this year’s edition of the international competitions.

Next year’s RoboCup will be held in Australia, at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Sydney.
