TEHRAN – “The Hedgehog” has scored a stunning success at the box office by selling over 2000 tickets in the week following its premiere at the Samandarian Hall of the Iranshahr Theater Complex in Tehran, the Persian service of ILNA reported on Wednesday.
The monolog, which is directed and performed by Bahram Afshari, is about a young man who leaves his hometown to pursue his dream of becoming an actor in Tehran.
Critics link the success with his strong performance in “Paytakht 5”, the popular Iranian TV series that was broadcast on IRIB’s Channel 3 during the Noruz holidays in March.
Mohammad Qods is the producer of the play, which was also written by Afshar.
“The Hedgehog” is scheduled to embark on a tour of Europe during June.
