Iran Aims for FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Final: Naderi

TEHRAN (Iran News) Keeping faith with his supremely talented squad from Thailand 2025, Ali Naderi has plenty of options at his disposal for the global showpiece.

Ali Mirshekari, who bagged the Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player awards at Thailand 2025, will be the one to look out for but Iran has a wonderfully balanced squad capable of challenging the best at the World Cup.

Mohammad Ali Mokhtari, Movahed Mohammadpour and Mohammad Ali Nazarzadeh are all on equal standing with Mirshekari, further strengthening Iran’s armor.

With a multi-talented squad, Naderi is not deflecting expectations and fully expects his team to go all the way.

“In the previous FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, we finished third,” he said.

“We are focused on our team and we want to qualify for the final this time. We will try hard to make it happen.”

Iran will kickstart their Group B campaign against African champion Mauritania on May 1, with Portugal and Paraguay being their other opponents.

Daryaeivarkadeh clinched the gold medal in her next match with victory against Australian Nicole Lowe-Tarbert.

The 10th SWC has welcomed nearly 170 participants including team officials from 26 countries and regions.

Iranian athlete bags silver at UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup

TEHRAN (Iran News) Iranian athlete Mohsen Beheshti Rad has won silver at the second UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup of the 2025 season.

The 2025 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup is being held in Champagny-en-Vanoise in south-eastern France.

Mongolian climber Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar won gold at the event.

The bronze medal of the category went to another Mongolian sportsman Kherlen Nyamdoo.

Set up in 1931, the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) has a global presence on six continents representing 90 member associations and federations in 67 countries.

Saudi Arabia keen to work with Iran in hosting 2034 World Cup: Envoy

TEHRAN (Iran News) Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anzi met with Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth Ahmad Donyamali in Tehran on Wednesday.

The two discussed potential cooperation between the two countries in hosting the World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

“Iran will be one of the most important countries in this competition, and we are interested in having discussions at high levels for joint cooperation before Saudi Arabia hosts the World Cup,” the ambassador said.

Donyamali, for his part, emphasized Iran’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Saudi Arabia in sports and youth development.

The minister also pointed to Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Islamic Solidarity Games next year, adding that Iran is planning to have a strong participation at the games.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Team Melli will play North Korea on Thursday (November 14) in Laos in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Iran will also travel to Bishkek to meet Kyrgyzstan on November 19.

Iran and Uzbekistan sit top of Group A with 10 points. Kyrgyzstan is fifth with three points and North Korea sits sixth with two points.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The competition will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, from June 20 to 26.

Serving as the ultimate battleground before the Paris Paralympics 2024, this event holds immense significance for Para Powerlifters worldwide.

Mohsen Bakhtiar (up to 59kg), Amir Jafari Arangeh (up to 65kg), Rouhollah Rostami (up to 88kg), Hamed Solhipour (up to 97kg), Mahid Sayadi (up to 107kg), Ali Akbar Gharibshahi (up to 107kg) and Ahmad Aminzadeh (over 107kg) will represent Iran in the competition.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran suffered a narrow 71-69 loss against Ivory Coast in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Monday at the Jakarta’s Indonesia Arena.

Nisre Zouzoua led Ivory Coast with 17 points and 4 rebounds.

Iran’s Behnam Yakhchali had 19 points and 5 rebounds.

“After the last game against Brazil our response was very important. I think we did it in the best way. We started the game very well and had the lead for most of the game,” Iran guard Yakhchali said.

“They made better decisions in the last minute of the game and won. I’m proud of my team, my teammates and the coaching staff,” he added.

“We fought until the end and have to keep on going like this,” Yakhchali concluded.

Team Melli had lost to Brazil 100-59 in their opening match in Group G.

Iran will play world No. 1 Spain on Wednesday.

Iran in Pot 3 of 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup

Iran are placed in Pot 3 of the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup in Indonesia.

New Zealand, Senegal, the U.S., Uzbekistan and Morocco are also in Pot 3.

Hosts Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain and Japan (2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup champions) are in Pot 1.

Pot 2 includes of Germany, Mali, England, South Korea, Argentina and Ecuador.

And Canada, New Caledonia, Panama, Burkina Faso, Poland and Venezuela have been placed in Pot 4.

The 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup will be the 19th edition of the FIFA U17 World Cup, the biennial international men’s youth football tournament contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA.

It will be held in Indonesia from Nov. 10 to Dec. 2. This will be the first time that Indonesia has been selected to host a FIFA Tournament and will be the first that the FIFA U-17 World Cup will be held in Southeast Asia.
