TEHRAN (Iran News) According to al-Mayadeen network, on Friday night, the fighters of the Zionist regime bombarded the ammunition depots of the Syrian army around the city of Latakia in the west of this country.

This news channel also announced the bombing of the Syrian army headquarters in the suburbs of Latakia and Tartus in the southwest of this country by the fighters of the Zionist regime.

So far, the media has not published more details about this.

Earlier, the media of the Zionist regime announced that Israel destroyed the defense systems of Syria.

These media added that the Israeli army has destroyed 500 military targets with 1800 bombs.

The Zionist military has intensified attacks on Syria since the take of Damascus by armed groups and the fall of the government under President Bashar al- Assad on Sunday.

Since the crisis gripped the Arab country back in 2011, Israel has continuously launched attacks on Syrian military and civilian facilities despite Damascus’ complaints to the UN, calling those attacks in violation of international law.

Hundreds of families returned to their homes and lands in Halfaya city in Hama northern countryside, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported.

The refugees hailed sacrifices made by Syrian forces to restore security and stability in their hometown, and facilitate their coming back after years of displacement.

The United Nations refugee agency announced late last year that as many as 250,000 Syrian refugees could return to their homeland in 2019.

Some 5.6 million Syrian refugees remain in neighboring countries, namely Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, Amin Awad, UNHCR director for the Middle East and North Africa, told reporters in Geneva on December 11, 2018.

Moreover, one million Syrian children have been born as refugees ever since the crisis began in their country back in March 2011.

Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria after the 1967 Six-Day War and later occupied it in a move that has never been recognized by the international community. The regime has built dozens of settlements in the area ever since and has used the region to carry out a number of military operations against the Syrian government.

The JOC said the first stage of the military operation code-named “the Will of Victory” began on Sunday to clean the areas of the western province of Anbar and the central and northern regions of Salahuddin and Nineveh, the Arabic-language al-Forat News reported.

At the end of the demonstration, a group of expatriates which came from Allentown City in the US state of Pennsylvania visited the permanent delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic headed by Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, hailing the efforts he exerts for defending Syria at the UN.

They reiterated solidarity with the homeland Syria and its army and leadership, and their standing by it till restoring security and safety to every inch of its territories and achieving the final victory over terrorism.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior issued a statement in which it dismisses any news about unsafety in Damascus calling it “baseless” and “untrue”. The ministry has also denied news on the abduction of civilians in Damascus and noted it has received no report of such in the past few weeks or months.

The question is who is trying to portray a wrong image of Syria particularly in Damascus, and especially now that the Syrian resistance forces have achieved much in the political and ground battle in the fight against terrorism.

Creating fear and terror among people 

It seems that in the portrayal of an “unsafe Damascus” by some Western countries and Saudi Arabia aims at creating fear and terror among civilians and people of Syria in various parts of the country.
That way they can portray a wrong image of the capital of Syria and influence and shape public opinion that despite the Syrian resistance achievement the capital of Syria remains unsafe.

The enemy knows all too well that one of the reasons Bashar al-Assad still is the head of the Syrian government is that he has the public support. Therefore, Saudi Arabia and its allies are spreading rumors about the insecurity in Syria.

Presently, tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, successful ground battle, have had voluntary repatriation as the situation in many parts of Syria is gradually returning to normal.
The Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria releases a number of reports on the Syrian voluntary return on a daily basis.
Thus, Saudi officials, fearful of repatriation of Syrians, have adopted a new deceptive policy to confront the legitimate government of Bashar al-Assad.

Arab countries to reopen embassies in Damascus 

Another issue of concern for the Saudis is the reopening of Arab embassies in Damascus in the past few weeks. The United Arab Emirates has opened an embassy in Damascus, Jordan has appointed new charge d’affaires at its embassy in Damascus, and Kuwait will soon reopen its embassy in Damascus. Saudi Arabia wishes to halt the process by demonstrating Damascus as an unsafe city.

The political achievement of drafting the Syrian constitution

Yet another issue that has devastated the House of Saud is the formation of Syrian constitutional committee which can put an end to Syria’s eight-year crisis.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has hoped the committee reaches an agreement soon as Russia, Turkey, Iran continue to hold dialogue and push for Syrian constitution.

In any case, the Saudis, quite apprehensive about the new developments, have gone off the deep end to leave an image of insure Damascus through their related media. They will fail this time too as they had before.
