‘Pet Man’, ‘The Fox’ to go on screen at Athens ANIMFEST

Iranian two short animated pieces ‘Pet Man’ by Marzieh Abrar-Paydar and ‘The Fox’ by Sadegh Javadi will go on screen at the 14th annual Athens International Animation Festival (ANIMFEST).

‘The Fox’ is about a young and lively fox that is caught by a hunter when experiencing its first love. The hunter puts a bell around the fox’s neck and returns it to the woods. The bell prevents the fox from hunting and living its normal life in the woods and it soon realizes that its only way to survive is to be tamed and go back to the hunter.

‘Pet Man’ tells the story of an animal dealer who falls asleep in his shop and has a nightmare where he is trapped inside an animal cage. In his attempt to escape from the animals, he encounters various obstacles.

The 14th annual Athens International Animation Festival (ANIMFEST) is organised by the European Animation Center and aims to bring the younger generation closer to the secrets and fascination of the art of animation and their diverse applications on the small and big screen, the multimedia, the Internet and education in general.

This edition of the festival will be held on March 14-17 in Greece.

‘Pet Man’ to vie at Horrible Imaginings Filmfest.

Iranian short animated piece ‘Pet Man’ by Marzieh Abrar-Paydar has made it into the screening program of 2018 Horrible Imaginings Film Festival in San Diego of USA.

In its previous screenings, ‘Pet Man’ has won some international awards including award for best animated film at NEZ International Film Festival in India, best characterization award in Kent’s Canterbury Festival, Best animation award at the Largo International Film Festival in Switzerland, the award for best animated eco film at International Animation Film Festival Golden Kuker in the Bulgarian capital Sofia and Best Animation Short Film award at the 2nd Sao Paulo Times Film Festival.

The Iranian animated short was among the top ten animated short films at Innsbruck Nature Film Festival (INFF) held in Austria and was nominated at International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival in Malaysia. Pet man also went on screen in SICAF animated film festival in South Korea.

The mission of Horrible Imaginings Film Festival is to amplify voices that express those emotions that make life a little more challenging. Fear, anxiety, despair, desperation, dark fantasy, unhealthy longing, terror–those parts of the human condition all of us recognize, but few of us enjoy talking about.

Iran’s “Pet Man” honored at Canterbury Anifest

TEHRAN – “Pet Man” by Iranian director Marzieh Abrarpaidar has won the Best Animation of Character Award at the 10th Canterbury Anifest in England, the organizers have announced.

The 2D animation is the story of an animal dealer who falls asleep in his shop and has a nightmare in which he finds himself caught in an animal cage. He manages to escape and seeks to rescue other animals, but every time he is faced with an obstacle. He finally awakes from his nightmare but still feels surrounded with uncertainty and fear of the animals.

The international animation festival was held in Canterbury on September 29 and 30.

‘Pet Man’ among top 10 animations in Austria Filmfest

TEHRAN– Iranian animated short ‘Pet Man’, directed by Marzieh Abrar Paidar, made it to the list of top 10 animations by Innsbruck Nature Film Festival.

The 16th edition of international film competition on nature and environment will run through October 10 to 13 in Austria. ‘Pet Man’ by Marzieh Abrar Paidar will be screened as one of the top ten animations chosen by the festival. The select films are the products of seven countries which include Austria, Iran, Germany, France, Netherlands, Croatia and Switzerland.

Prior to this, ‘Pet Man’ won the award for best animated film in the third NEZ International Film Festival in India. In addition, it’s been nominated in the 10th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival which is slated for October 23-29, 2017. Besides securing a place in the list of top 15 short animations by Britain’s Canterbury Festival, the film has been screened in Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival.

‘Pet Man’ unfolds the story of an animal seller who sees a horrific nightmare in which he is captivated into an animal cage. His efforts to escape from the animals seem useless as he is faced with an obstacle every time.
