TEHRAN (Iran News) – Ali Bahadori Jahromi, spokesman for the Iranian government, has praised the Oil Ministry’s efforts for ensuring uninterrupted natural gas supply during the winter, Shana reported on Wednesday.

“In previous years, we mostly faced interruption in gas supply during the peak consumption periods, but this year with the Oil Ministry’s good management we did not face any gas cut-off in the domestic sector,” Bahadori Jahromi said.

During the previous Iranian calendar year’s cold season, despite the unprecedented increase in natural gas consumption in the country, the gas industry was able to register a record high in terms of gas supply during the peak consumption period.

The consumption of natural gas by the domestic and commercial sectors reached 662 million cubic meters (mcm) in January to register a new record high in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and all its subsidiaries were seriously working a few months before the winter to ensure the sustained supply of gas during the cold season.

Having the biggest network in the region, Iran is one of the leading countries in terms of gas accessibility, and in this regard, making sure that this access stays uninterrupted during the pick consumption periods is a top priority for NIGC.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Oil Ministry Not to Wait for JCPOA Talks. Oil Ministry will not wait for the decisions and negotiations, Minister of Petroleum said on Thursday after 22nd OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting.

Javad Owji made the remark after 22nd OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting held via video conference on Thursday, adding we are trying and have made some achievements in this regard by utilizing all capacities and applying different sales methods which help with the country’s revenues.

There have been improvements in crude oil and gas condensates exports in the 13th administration through using capacities and potentials as well as national and international organizations, he added.

The U.S. recent attempt in Sea of Oman and Persian Gulf was due to the increase in crude oil and gas condensates output and exports, Owji said.

On OPEC+ meeting, he said the 22nd OPEC+ Ministerial Meeting was held today and the group agreed to continue with raising 400,000 bpd in crude oil output for December, he stated.

Meanwhile the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allied producers reached a consensus on Thursday on extending the current crude oil output plan and raise their production by 400,000 bpd for December.

The 23 members of OPEC and non-OPEC coalition, known as OPEC+, made an agreement during the 22nd OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting, held via video conference on Thursday, to add further 400,000 bpd to their crude oil output despite pressures by the U.S. President, Joe Biden.

Meanwhile, the group agreed to hold the 23rd OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting on December 2.

OPEC and its allies cut their crude oil output by a record amount in 2020 as COVID-19 pandemic and the global lockdown measures decreased fuel demand.

The coalition reduced its crude oil production by 9.7 million bpd in May 2020, then eased cuts as oil demand recovered.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Oil Ministry Welcomes any Kind of Investment. Oil Minister Javad Owji said: “We welcome any domestic and foreign investment for development of gas fields with the priority of maintaining the production of the South Pars gas field; as the current trend continues, we will become gas importers in the coming years.”

Javad Owji on Thursday evening in a joint meeting with oil industry managers in the Pars Energy Special Economic Zone, said: “Supply of fuel for the winter is one of the current priorities of the oil industry and it has been predicted that we will face a 10% increase in gas consumption this year.”

He expressed hope that by reviewing and following up on affairs, the country will be able to overcome the winter fuel challenge without any problems.

The oil ministry stated that favorable measures have been taken in the petrochemical industry so far and this industry has met a large part of the country’s hard exchange needs in recent years.

“Vaccination of all oil industry workers has been seriously considered, and I recently told the president that oil industry workers have been greatly overlooked in this regard,” he said.

Owji said the first train of the phase 14 refinery of the South Pars gas field would come on stream in the winter this year.

Meanwhile speaking to reporters during a visit to Assaluyeh on Friday, Mr. Owji said, “I thank God that I succeeded in making my first business trip to Assaluyeh region as the Iranian Minister of Petroleum; over the course of this trip I visited gas refineries, petrochemical complexes and platforms of South Pars.”

He considered the supply of winter fuel as one of the most important concerns of the Oil Ministry at present, and added: “More than 700 million cubic meters or in other words 70% of the country’s gas consumption is supplied from Bushehr Province and the South Pars refineries.”

The Oil Minister noted last night’s meeting with the managers of the oil industry in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone and positively evaluated the meeting, saying the latest state of the refineries and ongoing projects in the region were the focus of the meeting.

Owji expressed hope that with the decisions taken this year, the maximum production and recovery of gas from the South Pars joint field will be achieved.

He underlined the South Pars Refinery Phase 14 as the last refinery to come on stream, and added: “Our comrades have promised that the first gas sweetening train South Pars Refinery Phase 14 will be put into operation this winter and will help the country’s gas network.”

The oil minister arrived in Assaluyeh on Thursday evening on his first business visit in his new post, and after attending the tomb of the anonymous martyrs of Assaluyeh, examined the gas and petrochemical projects based in the area in a meeting with the relevant managers in the Pars Energy Special Economic Zone.

In a time span from November 15 to 24, Iranians consumed 79 million liters of gasoline daily, while their consumption stood at 98 million liters per day from March 21 to November 14, the ministry announced.

Iranians consumed an average level of 75 million liters of gasoline on November 24, the ministry added rejecting all the released unofficial data in the past days.

This is while on Monday, Traffic Police Chief General Kamal Hadianfar informed that following the implementation of rationing gasoline, domestic gasoline consumption has increased. “Consumption in the past two days has increased from 94 million liters to 105 million liters,” the Iranian General said.

On November 13, the Iranian government started rationing of subsidized gasoline and increased fuel prices as it plans to use the revenue for supporting underprivileged families.

According to a statement published by National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, the price for a liter of regular gasoline was increased to 15,000 rials (nearly 35 cents at the official rate of 42,000 rials per dollar) from 10,000 rials and the monthly ration for each passenger car was set at 60 liters. Additional purchases would cost 30,000 rials per liter.

Due to heavy subsidies and devaluation of its currency, Iran has one of the cheapest fuel prices in the world and the country has been fighting rampant fuel smuggling to neighboring countries.

In one of its latest reports dubbed “World Energy Outlook 2018”, the International Energy Agency (IEA) put Iran on top of the list of the world’s countries for energy subsidies. That means Iran holds the first place among the world’s countries in terms of the volume of subsidies which is allocated to energy consumption.

As per a memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides on Monday, IMIDRO and NPC will provide the grounds to speed up the construction operation of the petrochemical projects in Phase I of Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone (PEIISEZ), along the Persian Gulf.

Accordingly, the state-run NPC is tasked with vetting the credentials of petrochemical units intended to be based in PEIISEZ.

Facilitating the deployment of petrochemical companies in the zone, the MoU will accelerate the operation of five petrochemical projects in the region, each of which will have a capacity to generate five to seven thousand jobs.

Plans are underway to produce 4 million tons of steel, 18 million tons of petrochemicals and 1.2 million tons of aluminum. Besides 6,000 megawatts of power will also be generated in the region.

Petrochemical is Iran’s most important industry after oil and gas. The National Petrochemical Company hopes to lift output capacity to 120 million tons per annum by 2022.

In the March 2018-19 fiscal, Iranian companies exported $14.1 billion worth of petrochemicals. Official data has it that petrochemicals account for 32% of Iran’s non-oil exports.

The petrochemical industry has played a key role in domestic economic growth as it creates value-added and reduces the sale of oil and gas on which the economy has been dependent for decades.

With abundant hydrocarbon reserves and new private sector investments, Iran is working hard to maintain its global status in the key sector and broaden its scope.

The maintenance operations of the phases 4,5,10 and 16 have been completed ahead of the scheduled plan, the Pars Oil and Gas Company announced, and the offshore platforms are ready to resume operation.

The operations took seven days – with each phase taking 2,000 to 5,000 man/hours – to ensure the sustainable and secure gas production and prevent potential production decline, especially in the winter.

Each of the platforms is developed for 28 mcm/d of natural gas production capacity.

South Pars field is the world’s largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, covering an area of 3,700 square kilometers of Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.

The giant reservoir is being developed in 24 phases.

According to the Oil Ministry’s portal, one million barrels of condensate will be sold at this round at the base price of $67.85 per barrel.

The condensate will be offered in cargos of 35,000 barrels each, and buyers are required to purchase a minimum of one cargo.

Purchases can be carried out with a 6% pre-payment in foreign currencies. The buyers may clear their debts based on the mechanisms already defined by the Oil Ministry.

The cargo can be loaded up until four months after the purchase is done.

NIOC launched its first condensate sales at IRENEX in February. The item was supplied by different Iranian refineries including Bandar Abbas, Kermanshah, Tehran, Shiraz and Ilam.

Receiving the cargos at other terminals will need NIOC’s approval.

The Oil Ministry subsidiary is also offering crude oil at IRENEX. Eight rounds of crude sale have so far been launched at the energy exchange.

Offering crude oil on the stock market is part of efforts to involve the private sector and international companies in the oil industry. However, the move has not produced the desired results yet, as in the past eight rounds of offering, NIOC hardly managed to sell 1.015 million barrels of crude on IRENEX.
