TEHRAN (Iran News) – Permits issued for establishment of 830 industrial units in Semnan province . As announced by a provincial official, permits have been issued for the establishment of 830 industrial units in the central Semnan province during the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 – July 22).

Faramarz Mahboubi, the deputy head of the province’s Industry, Mining, and Trade Department, put the estimated investment for these units at 69 trillion rials (about $1.642 billion) and job creation at 14,800.

The official said that investment making in the industry sector of the province has risen 271 percent in the first four months of this year, as compared to the same period of time in the previous year.

According to the latest data released by Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry, during the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21) 10,714 permits have been issued for establishing new industrial units in the country, which marked 31.8 percent increase year on year.

The estimated investment making for these units was more than 2.712 quadrillion rials (about $64.571 billion), indicating 162 percent rise year on year.

The units are predicted to create jobs for 288,096 persons, with a 52.4-percent growth.

As announced by Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki, the issuance of establishment licenses for industrial units in the country increased 40 percent in the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

“The number of establishment licenses increased to more than 36,000 last year, which shows that people are encouraged to invest in the productive sectors”, the official has stated.

He also said that over 6,500 new industrial units were established across the country during the past year, which created jobs for over 121,000 people.

The official further said that 1,500 idle industrial units have been revived in the country during the previous year.

Touching upon the Industry Ministry’s plans for the realization of the motto of the current year which is named the year of “Production: support and the elimination of obstacles” by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the deputy minister said: “In the year that has been dedicated to the production sector by the Leader of the revolution, the orientation of all government organizations and executive bodies should be towards supporting the country’s industrial and mining units.”

He also mentioned an 85-percent rise in the allocation of land for establishing industrial units across the country and noted that over 4,500 hectares of land were handed over to applicants in the previous calendar year.

According to the official, there are over 46,000 small and medium-sized industrial units in Iran’s industrial parks and zones, of them about 9,200 units are inactive.

Iran’s industrial parks play a significant role in making the country independent through boosting production, which is a major strategy of Iran to combat the U.S. sanctions.

In fact, strengthening domestic production to achieve self-reliance is the most important program that Iran is following up in its industry sector in a bid to nullify the effects of the U.S. sanctions on its economy.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Cabinet approves document on improving industrial productivity . Iran’s cabinet has approved a document on improving the productivity of the industrial sector in a meeting held on June 30, IRNA reported.

As reported, the mentioned document was proposed jointly by the ministries of oil and industry, mining and trade as well as the State Administrative and Recruitment Organization based on Article 138 of the constitution.

Accordingly, the ministries of industry, mining, and trade and oil (the National Iranian Oil Company) are required to prepare a progress report on the actions and programs contained in this document in six-month intervals and submit it to the National Productivity Organization.

Also, the State Administrative and Recruitment Organization and the National Productivity Organization are obliged to send a comprehensive report on the measures taken based on this document to the cabinet on an annual basis.

The industry sector plays a significant role in the Iranian economy as the government has been taking new measures for distancing the country’s economy from oil.

In this regard, since the re-imposition of the U.S. sanctions, the Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry was tasked to pursue a program for indigenizing the knowledge for the production of major industrial equipment.

According to Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki, relying on domestic production in the industry sector saved Iran $3.5 billion during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

Last year the indigenization of the knowledge for the production of $3.2 billion worth of such equipment in various provinces was on the agenda, which increased to more than $3.5 billion, Niaraki said in late April.

He mentioned investment in industrial sectors and the increasing trend of production of important industrial products as measures taken by the Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry in the previous year which was named the year of “Surge in Production” by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyed Ali Khamenei.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Tehran hosting intl. paper, related machinery exhibition. Iran’s 4th International Specialized Exhibition of Paper, Cardboard, Cellulose Products, and Related Machinery kicked off at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on Monday, IRNA reported.

The inaugural ceremony of the four-day exhibit was participated by Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki.

As reported, there are currently 120 paper production plants in Iran, whose major challenge is the supply of raw materials.

According to Abolfazl Roghani Golpayegani, the head of the Iranian Syndicate of Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers, currently, the per capita consumption of paper products in Iran is 22 kilograms (kg), while in Europe the figure stands at 55 kg and in the United States is 160 kg.

The annual consumption of textbook paper is 40,000 tons, while some 120,000 tons of sanitary paper is also consumed annually in the country. The production in this field is more than 200,000 tons.

Last week, Golpayegani had said that considering the country’s potentials and capacities, Iran could easily become a hub for paper production in the region.

“Due to the general conditions and available facilities, Iran has the potential to become a regional production hub in many industries including the paper and cardboard sector,” Golpayegani said.

Apart from Turkey, which is the largest automaker in the region through cooperation with Italy’s Fiat, Iran is the top producer in other industries such as cement, glass, steel, etc.; it can also become the main supplier of paper to the region’s large market, he stated.

According to the official, the government has issued a license for an annual production of 2.8 million tons of packing paper, while the country’s annual production capacity is currently 1.6 million tons and the domestic demand is 900,000 tons per year.

“Therefore, surplus production must be exported, and exports are already underway to Europe, including Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom, as well as Asia and the Persian Gulf Arab nations,” he said.

Golpayegani noted that by creating the necessary infrastructure, using the existing vacant capacities and developing the production units, while improving international interactions and resolving the country’s political issues, the paper industry can achieve the goal of becoming the region’s main supplier.

The head of the Syndicate of Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers pointed to the supply of raw materials as the main challenge of this industry and said: “Department of Environment is the first authority to approve orders for raw material, but strict regulations by this organization have become an obstacle to the industry’s activities.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Industry Ministry’s indigenization plan realized by 110%. Head of the Domestic Production Center of Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade said the program for indigenizing the knowledge for the production of major industrial equipment has been realized by 110 percent in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

Last year the indigenization of the knowledge for the production of $3.2 billion worth of such equipment in various provinces was on the agenda, however, more than $3.565 billion worth of such products were indigenized, Mohammad-Mehdi Hadavi told IRNA on Saturday.

The Industry Ministry had notified all provinces about their obligations for replacing imported goods with domestically made goods in the mentioned year, and the share of each province was specified, Hadavi explained.

The provinces of Tehran and Isfahan had the best performance in this regard, so that Tehran, with the indigenization of about $1.1 billion worth of equipment and goods, recorded a brilliant performance.

According to the official, the goal of the mentioned program was to indigenize the knowledge for the production of $10 billion worth of commodities by the end of the current Iranian calendar year 1400 (March 2022).

The official noted that the Industry, Mining, and Trade ministry has it on the agenda to indigenize $3.4 billion worth of equipment in the current Iranian calendar year and the shares of various provinces in this regard will be determined in near future.

Earlier this week, Iran’s Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki announced that relying on domestic production has saved Iran $3.5 billion during the previous Iranian calendar year.

Since the re-imposition of the U.S. sanctions, the Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry was tasked to pursue a program for indigenizing the knowledge for the production of major industrial equipment.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said in October 2019 that government officials should ban the import of goods that are also produced domestically.

Back in 2019, when the mentioned program was started, the Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister at the time Reza Rahmani had said that relying on domestic production was going to save $10 billion for the country in two years.

According to Hadi, over 119 trillion rials (about $2.833 billion) is needed to be invested in the mentioned projects which can provide job opportunities for 155,000 people, IRNA reported.

The number of projects with physical progress between 60-80 percent is 12,993 993 projects with a total investment of about 289 trillion rials (about $6.88 billion) which can provide jobs for 463,000 people, the official said.

Nearly 19,185 projects also have physical progress between 20-60 percent with 579 trillion rials (about $13.78 billion) of investment and the possibility of employment for 747,000 people are underway across the country, he added.

Hadi put the number of projects with less than 20 percent of progress as 28,909 projects, saying: “The investment needed for these projects is estimated at about 977 trillion rials (about $23.26 billion), which will create employment for 1.092 million people.”

In total, so far 83,780 establishment licenses and more than 74,000 operation licenses have been issued in the country’s industrial sector, according to the official.

The official further noted that currently, the Industry Ministry’s priority is to fund pioneering projects with over 80 percent of physical progress.

Like the previous year, reviving idle units is also another important program that the ministry is pursuing in the current year which has been named the year of “Production: support and the elimination of obstacles.”

Earlier this month, Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki announced that 1,500 idle industrial units were revived in the country during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

According to Niaraki, over 6,500 new industrial units were also established across the country during the mentioned year which created jobs for over 121,000 people.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Relying on domestic production has saved Iran $3.5 billion during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20), Iran’s Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki announced.

Last year the indigenization of the knowledge for the production of $3.2 billion worth of such equipment in various provinces was on the agenda, which increased to more than $3.5 billion, IRIB quoted Niaraki as saying on Monday.

He mentioned investment in industrial sectors and the increasing trend of production of important industrial products as measures taken by the Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry in the previous year which was named the year of “Surge in Production” by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyed Ali Khamenei.

“The country’s industrial sector was able to grow significantly in a situation where the outbreak of the coronavirus had created unfavorable conditions for the country’s productive sector; fortunately, we have witnessed a good leap in the production of products needed by people to fight this disease,” the official stressed.

Touching upon some of the major industrial growth indicators in the previous year, Sadeghi Niaraki noted that industrial investment reached more than 1.8 quadrillion rials (about $42.8 billion) in the first 11 months of the previous year (March 20, 2020-February 18, 2021), registering a growth of 225 percent.

The upward trend continued to the end of the year, he emphasized.

The official also pointed to a 23-percent increase in job creation in various industrial sectors, saying that direct employment was provided for 121,000 people during the previous year.

Niaraki also informed about the increase in production of 20 important industrial products and added: “We hope that this trend will be maintained in the current year which named the year of “Production: Support and the Elimination of Obstacles.”
