The MOU has been signed by ISIPO Head Ali Rasoulian and the Chairman of the Board of BWA Michael Schumann, IRNA reported on Wednesday.

The MOU covers a variety of areas including technology exchange between Iranian and German companies, holding technology-based conferences, holding B2B meetings between Iranian and German companies, supplying machines needed by Iranian companies, holding industrial and commercial events with the participation of BWA in the countries of the region, holding educational workshops for Iranian companies including technical and professional courses for managers.

Making the remarks in a meeting between MPs and owners of industrial units on Monday, Fathali Mohammadzadeh, noted that more than 1,011 industrial parks and zones are established across the country, 830 of which have been handed over to industrial units.

According to Mohammadzadeh, so far 93,000 operation deals have been signed with industrial units and currently, over 48,400 units have started operating in these parks and zones.

He further noted that 950,000 people are currently working in the country’s industrial parks and zones.

He emphasized that ISIPO needs more authority to effectively maintain the country’s industrial areas as the heart of the country’s economy, saying: “Many problems will be solved if one percent of the added value that industrialists pay to the government is spent on industrial parks and zones.”

Iran’s industrial parks play a significant role in making the country independent through boosting production, which is a major strategy of Iran to combat the U.S. sanctions.

In fact, strengthening domestic production to achieve self-reliance is the most important program that Iran is following up in its industry sector in a bid to nullify the effects of the U.S. sanctions on its economy.

In this due, the current Iranian calendar year (began on March 21) has been named the year of “Production: Support and Elimination of Obstacles”, and all governmental bodies, as well as the private sector, are moving in line with the materialization of this motto.

Regarding its significant role in the realization of the mentioned goal, the Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry has already defined its main programs for supporting domestic production in the current year.

TEHRAN – Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO) and China in an online ceremony signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in small industries.

In an online ceremony held between officials of ISIPO and Deputy Head of Science and Technology Organization of Guangdong Province of China Mr. Wu Hong, both sides signed a MOU on international cooperation partnership program.

During the ceremony, the head of ISIPO Mr. Mohsen Salehinia emphasized developing cooperation between small industries of both states, adding that regarding successful cooperations between ISIPO and China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair(CISMEF) in the past years, the ground and enough experience has been gained for developing industrial and trade relations.

He added that so far 50 Iranian companies have attended this exhibition in China where they both put on display their products and signed agreements for cooperation.

On ISIPO’s program for attending international exhibition on small industries in China, he said the organization had planned for good turnout of Iranian companies in the exhibition but the Coronavirus pandemic made the organization look for other patterns for new cooperation and partake in the exhibition.

Salehinia added that the organization is to boost Iranian companies’ presence in the exhibition in cooperation with its Chinese cooperation and this MoU can help it.

He expressed hope that by implementing the MoU, both sides can share their experiences in order to ease cooperation between private sectors of both countries.

Meanwhile Mr. Wu said Iran is an important trade partner of China in the West Asia and both sides have enjoyed very good cooperation in the economic and trade fields.

He reiterated that the MoU would open a new chapter in bilateral cooperation and developing long term cooperation in the small and medium-sized industries.

He also said that the financial resources of the fund will be doubled by the end of the summer.

“The fund’s capital will be increased from its current 1.1 trillion rials (about $9.2 million) to 2.2 trillion rials (about $18.5 million) by the end of summer,” he said.

“Having its resources increased, the organization can improve its facilities up to 5 time or 6 times more than its available fund,” he added.

According to Salehinia, from among 43,650 industrial units in Iran, some 77.5 percent, i.e. 33,800 units, are presently active.

In a bid to protect Iranian economy and prosper industrial parks, some 400 trillion rials (about $9.52 billion) of financial resources is planned to be granted to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) this year.

ISIPO reportedly plans to expand the infrastructure of these production units, concentrate on increasing employment and job creation in them, improve their business environment, and supply the working capital of these production units to reach the set targets by the yearend.

He also added that industrial units account for $4 billion share of Iran’s total exports.

He made the remarks in a press briefing on Saturday on the occasion of supporting Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

He pointed to the development projects of the ministry in the field of industrial parks and added, “Development projects are underway in 77 industrial parks and areas across the nation.”

Salehinia put the number of industrial parks and areas in the country at about 1,100 and added, “according to the latest statistics, Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) exported $4 billion worth of products last year (ended March 20, 2019).”

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to the construction of 466 industrial clusters in the country and added, “These clusters are active in 97 projects including saffron, honey, carpet, etc.”

Salehinia put the number of industrial parks and areas under construction at 810 and said that Iran is home to nine special economic zones.

The Ministry of Industry has supported more than 33,700 industrial units for participating in domestic and foreign exhibitions, the deputy minister highlighted.

About 210 foreign investors have made major investments, valued at over $2 billion, in Iran’s industrial and trade units which have generated employment opportunities for 17,000 job-seeking people.
