The appointment was announced on Wednesday in a decree issued by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. 

Jebelli, 55, replaced Abolali Ali-Askari who held the position in IRIB, also called “national medium” in Iran, since May 2016.

Jebelli was the former director of the IRIB World Service.

In the decree, the Leader urged the new IRIB director to provide a focus for “raising public awareness and knowledge” and “cultural guidance.”

He also emphasized the need “to raise the national and revolutionary spirit and identity” and help hope and joy of life surge inside society.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the production of programs promoting the Islamic-Iranian lifestyle.

Senior officials, including President Ebrahim Raisi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf and Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, have congratulated Jebelli on his appointment as IRIB managing director.

Based on the Constitution of Iran, the managing director of IRIB is selected by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution for a term of four years.

In his meeting in 2019 with the literati, Ayatollah Khamenei criticized Persian media and IRIB for their disregard of the standard language, using “faceless language” and foreign terms and words, and addressing the cultural officials and literati, warned, “Don’t let the Persian language fall into decay and ruin.”

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani on Friday called new U.S. sanctions on Iran’s banks an attempt to prevent purchases of medicine and food, state broadcaster IRIB reported.

“The President called the U.S. effort to create serious obstacles for fund transfers for the supply of medicine and food cruel, terrorist and inhumane,” IRIB said.

“Americans have so far done everything they could against the great Iranian nation and that by doing so, they cannot break the Iranian people’s resistance,” President Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdolnasser Hemmati on Friday.

President Rouhani said that the U.S. government’s actions are within the framework of political propaganda and aimed at their own domestic goals.

He appreciated the efforts of the Central Bank of Iran in supplying the people’s basic needs.

The Iranian president called the U.S. moves and actions in continuation of Trump’s strategic mistakes in withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and said that the U.S. government, in the wrong analytical framework, believed that these sanctions would break the Iranian resistance, but the passing of the time showed that this analysis was by far from reality and was inefficient.

Referring to the U.S. failures by repeating strategic errors like the snapback mechanism, Rouhani noted that “all nations know that these actions by the U.S. government are completely against international law and regulations, besides Washington’s actions are completely inhumane in the coronavirus pandemic era and human rights claimants on the world should condemn it”.

Meanwhile earlier, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed certainty after a frenzy of U.S. sanctions target Iran’s banking sector that those starring in the leading and support roles of the inhumane anti-Iran show will eventually face justice.

“Amid Covid-19 pandemic, U.S. regime wants to blow up our remaining channels to pay for food & medicine,” Zarif tweeted on Thursday right after the United States Treasury Department levied the bans against as many as 18 Iranian banks. “Conspiring to starve a population is a crime against humanity,” he lamented.

The foreign minister, however, pledged that “Iranians WILL survive this latest of cruelties,” adding, “Culprits & enablers—who block our money—WILL face justice.”

The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) specified two of the targets as Iran’s Bank Maskan, and Bank Keshavarzi. The former is relied on by the biggest part of the country’s 80-million-strong population for loans assisting them to buy houses, while the latter has the biggest stakes countrywide in the agricultural sector.

Bank Refah Kargaran that is favored by the country’s laborers and technical workers, Bank Gharzolhasaneh Resalat that is reputed for its small and low-interest loans, and entrepreneurship-focused Karafarin Bank were three others of the financial institutions.

The rest of the sanctioned institutions were named as Pasargad Bank, Saman Bank, Sarmayeh Bank, Tose’e Ta’avon (Cooperative Development) Bank, Tourism Bank, and Amin Investment Bank.

The OFAC alleged that the relatively across-the-board measure was in line with the U.S.’ general policy of targeting the Iranian entities that “may” be used to support Iran’s nuclear program, missile program or, what it called, its “terrorist” activities and “malign regional influence.”

Meanwhile Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman blasted the latest round of U.S. sanctions against over a dozen Iranian banks, saying those who favor the Israeli prime minister’s interests over the Americans’ are luring the U.S. president into targeting ordinary Iranian people.

In a post on his Twitter account, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh referred to the Post report and said, “Frustrated by humiliating failures and futility of ‘maximum pressure’, Bibi-Firsters lure Trump into doubling down on inhumane targeting of ordinary Iranians.”

“The same gang has carelessly gambled with America’s interests and reputation for past 4 years. Once again, they’ll lose,” he added.

In defiance of Europe’s humanitarian objections, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions on 18 Iranian banks on Thursday.

The Trump administration took the punitive action with an aim to cut off the Islamic Republic from the world’s financial system.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah who is known as Mr. Resistance on Sunday and in his speech on the occasion of Ashura made some remarks which are very strategic in its kind and at the same time have half an eye on the past, present and the future of Lebanon.

Experts evaluate this speech politically and militarily as a process of an everlasting school in the culture of administering Lebanon. He started his Ashura speech by reminding the 33-day war with Israel, a war which not only changed seriously the fate of Lebanon in all political, military and strategic equations in the West Asia, but also caused regret that 80 million Iranian people have not known it as they should have known and have been remained unaware of the great impacts of the result of war in the regional developments because of filthy and mercenary-like performance of media, although one of the reasons for peace, security and stability in their lives in the past 13 years has been the significant and unbelievable effect of this war.

One should say Zionist and Quds occupier regime had come to put an end to the existence of Hizbullah forever. Ending it both militarily, and politically, through blaming Hizbullah as the main reason for attack and destroying Lebanon, and making people stand against Hizbullah.

But Hizbullah’s decisive victory was so that in the past thirteen years no bullet has been fired at Lebanon. In those years, the U.S. had occupied Iraq and Iran was in the heat of its nuclear crisis and destruction of Hizbullah was a prelude to the joint attack of the U.S. and its close allies, led by Quds occupier regime, at Iran. But God Almighty did not let it happen and it was only after Israelis’ humiliating defeat that they forgot thinking of any military attack at Iran.

On Ashura, Nasrallah by reminding the 33-day war emphasized that he was not man of bluff and psychological war. He held a map of the occupied lands in front of the TV cameras and delved into details that in case the smallest aggression against Lebanon and Iran happens, how Hizbullah forces will destroy any part of the occupied lands and how harsh the attack would be. He elaborated it with no exaggeration or slogan and just by mentioning the military progress of Hizbollah forces and tabling objective and apparent facts and figures to back his words. And with his explanations sentence by sentence and word by word, he painted the picture of annihilation of enemy. He also reminded the rulers of the UAE, who have made explicit their enmities against Iran, that in case of any blow from the U.S. against Iran, they will ravage all emirates of the country to the ground.

By his analysis, he showed the Saudis how they would be destroyed and he reminded all states in the region how any aggression against Iran will cost them dear. He continued his fiery speech to prove this point that the U.S. will not dare to wage a war against Iran.

Experts believe that the thought of Sayyad and Mr. Resistance and any sentence of him is expressed like a precision-guidance missile which is fired at enemies with full calculation and study and it sows the seed of fear and panic in the hears of the public opinions of hegemonic currents and Western, Saudi and Emirati rulers. This is a thought that takes attacking approach and stand in order to prevent enemies not even think of any dream of attack at Iran and Lebanon because they know that the real peace is only restored when we obtain real power and enemies cannot sleep the nights well because of their concerns and nightmare of this God-oriented power.

But it is a pity that while Sayyad Hassan alone with his brave speech had entered the political, psychological media war scene to thwart some part of West, Saudi and Arab-Hebrew psychological war against Iranians, unfortunately our national broadcasting IRIB with over tens of TV channels and its big media bodies and tens of several dedicated budgets did not reflect the voice of this Sayyad of Resistance who is, in true sense of the word, defender of goals of the Islamic Revolution in the world. It was expected his speech to be translated into different languages like Arabic, English, Persian and even Hebrew, or even video clips of his speech to be prepared and re-casted in order that his detailed analyses and data could make the determination of pro-resistance enthusiasts in the world stronger, and hearts of enemies be filled with concerns and panic and their queues be disarrayed. But we stood in a corner watching it with open mouth and passively. Passivity has taken us to the court of enemies and perhaps penetration of individuals and vicious thoughts have targeted the heart of our media outlets.

If I say outspokenly that his speech was of the type of Martyr Lieutenant Qassem Soleimani’s, I have not boasted or exaggerated. This speech filled hours of programs of most-watched and popular media of enemies, and several analyses have been added on its influential dimensions. Viva Mr. Resistance who put on display a curtain of genuine Islam’s power.

This year, the condition in the country and Anti-Coronavirus Headquarters’ demand for voluntary quarantine in the country made the Supreme Leader cancel his annual New Year travel to Mashhad and visit of Eighth Imam Reza (A)’s shrine, and instead in a televised meeting and addressing the nation, he chose a name for this year and elaborated it.

In the meeting which was broadcast live on IRIB for the great Iranian nation, the Supreme Leader began his speech with expressing condolences and felicitations to the families of martyrs of the past Iranian calendar year  (1398) like martyrs of Holy Shrine and Borders Defenders, above of all, martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their comrades as well as martyrs of Kerman incident, plane crash and martyrs on the path of health, and called 1398 (last year) a tumultuous year for the Iranian nation.

He said,“ 1398 began with flood and ended with Coronavirus outbreak and through the year, various incidents and events like earthquakes and sanctions happened but the peak of them was the U.S. terrorist crime of assassinating famous commander of Iran and Islam Martyr Soleimani.” He also stated, “Last year, was a tough year and people’s woes and hardships were not too low but beside those woes and hardships, there were also a number of unprecedented honors and achievements where Iranian nation shone brightly in all of them in its true sense of word.” He continued to hail significant sacrifices of people in the Coronavirus issue and called it another example to Iranian nation’s shining in the last Iranian calendar year, adding that, “These acts of sacrifice were made by medical groups, physicians, nurses, assistants, managers and the staff working in hospitals. Alongside these people, there were volunteers from among the people, students, the clergy, Basijis and various individuals who helped the medical staff and who nursed patients. All these phenomena are a source of dignity and reputation.”

Addressing the nation, the Supreme Leader then defined the meaning and ideals behind the slogan for the new year 1399, saying, “As for the slogan of the year, the year 1398 was the year of boosting production and I will tell the Iranian nation that this slogan was welcomed in practice. In the beginning, experts welcomed it, saying that production was the main criterion, but it received a warm reception in practice as well. According to reliable reports that I have received, the production of the country moved forward. Some of the factories that had stopped working and that had closed down returned to work and in the case of those which worked below their capacity, they increased their capacity. Knowledge-based companies entered the arena and various organizations made good endeavors as a result of which, production was boosted.” The Leader added, “In the year 1398, production was roused and it moved forward, but its effects in the lives of the people were not yet tangible. We should make production reach a point where it can influence the people’s lives. Of course, the economic issues of the country are many. There are issues such as reforming the banking system, the customs regulations, the taxing system and improving the business environment and other such issues, but the role of production is a unique and peerless one. With boom in production and taking advantage of 80-million-people market inside and link with foreign markets, economic problems in the country would definitely end and Iran will benefit from the sanctions.”

To sum up his remarks, he said, “Last year’s slogan was “Boosting Production”. This year, I want to say that we need a further leap in production – as the slogan of the year. This year is the year of “Leap in Production.” This is the slogan of the year. Officials should act in a way that production will witness a surge, God willing, and that there will be a tangible change in the lives of the people.”

The leader’s emphasis on surge in production indicates that leader’s reliable experts have blamed unwise policies of governments for the growth in the volume of liquidity in the country and it seems it is a rational solution for the problems.

All ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth governments have destroyed national economic bases and devaluation of national currencies without ill-intention, of course it is doubtful. The imprudence today with over 2,000 billion tomans liquidity has befallen all walks of the life. Widening of social gap and the rise in Gini coefficient as well as inefficiency in the structure of production are results of this imprudence. The government’s obligation for providing minimum supportive package for weak layer of the society is because of this.

This woe has been created by the alignment of the 4-percent community in the country, as Qalibaf had claimed in his election campaign, with the governments. Without any doubt, lockdown and quarantine in the country because of the outbreak of Coronavirus, will cripple major layers of the people because the government has to provide more people with its supportive credit package to fight unemployment rate and it will undoubtedly lead to a surge in liquidity and a rise in the monetary bases in the post-Coronavirus era. But emphasis on a national unity on surge in production in the current year can swallow some part of this liquidity in order to prevent the spread of poverty among some major parts of the nation and saving them from more misery. In fact, remedy for curing the current national economy is nothing but massive production with mechanism of surge in production.

Dissidents and opponents of Iranian government in the Congress are pushing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to end a deal with Iran that has prevented the United States from leveling sanctions on the Iran’s state TV network, Washington Free Beacon reported.

He began his career in the early 1980s and soon turned out to be one of the major announcers of TV and radio news programs at the time when news coverage of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war was the main part of IRIB’s news programs.

He retired in 2009, and contrary to many of his colleagues’ decisions to continue working after retirement, he never pursued his career afterwards.

He was the manager of the Bent ol-Hoda Charity Organization that he founded after the death of his little daughter.

In a letter published several hours after his death, IRIB Managing Director Abdolali Ali-Asgari offered condolences to his family and IRIB staff.

“His face and voice evoke nostalgia among the Iranian people for the numerous memorable days of the past,” he wrote.

“The Iranian Luminaries Project aims to introduce rich Persian literature and civilization, which only promotes peace and friendship in the world,” IRIB deputy director Ali Darabi said.

A large group of artists from Fars Province will take part in the production of the project, which is estimated to be completed in five to seven years.

The celebrated Persian poet Hafez is known for his divan, which is regarded as one of the pinnacles of Persian classical literature.

Sadi is one of the greatest figures of classical Persian literature, famous worldwide for his Bustan (The Orchard) and Gulistan (The Rose Garden).

Poet and mystic Khaju lived during the 13th and 14th centuries and his tomb is located at the Quran Gate near the Allaho-Akbar Pass in Shiraz.

Warning of the consequences of the budget cut, Qazizadeh Hashemi said according to the sixth development plan, 0.7% of the annual budget should be allocated for the IRIB, adding that the Rouhani administration’s budget bill fails to meet that plan.

He called on the administration to immediately find a solution for the issue as it could cause complications, Mehr reported on Friday.
