Constitutional Revolution anniv.: Qalibaf says Iranian nation does not tolerate tyranny

TEHRAN (Iran News) Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has described the Constitutional Revolution as a movement that emerged from the people’s will to establish a religious democracy, saying that the Iranian nation has proven over the years that it does not tolerate tyranny.

Speaking at an open session of Parliament on Tuesday, Qalibaf said the Constitutional Revolution marked one of the most significant chapters in modern Iranian history.

“Today, one of the most important chapters of Iran’s contemporary history was opened with the cries for justice and rule of law by our nation,” he said.

Qalibaf emphasized that “Parliament is the child of the Constitutional Revolution and the valuable legacy of that national movement that has been entrusted to us.”

Although the Constitutional Revolution faced foreign interference and the confiscation of its goals, Qalibaf said, “It was originally a movement that emerged from the people and was rooted in religious and social awareness.”

Calling the Constitutional Revolution not merely a political shift, he added that it was one of the nation’s first experiences in establishing a religious democracy and resisting foreign-backed tyranny.

“This experience, despite foreign infiltration and internal deviation, sowed the seeds of awareness, public participation, justice-seeking, and adherence to the law,” he said.

Qalibaf added that the movement’s path continued with the nationalization of oil and reached its peak in the Islamic Revolution. “The Iranian nation has shown it does not tolerate tyranny,” he stated.

He concluded by honoring the martyrs of the Constitutional Revolution, especially Sheikh Fazlollah Nouri, and reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to that historic legacy.

The Constitutional Revolution of Iran took place between 1905 and 1911 during the Qajar dynasty and led to the establishment of a parliament in Iran.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has warned the United States against military action on Iran, emphasizing that the Iranian nation will stand firm in the face of both imposed war and imposed peace.

The Leader made the remark in a message on Wednesday after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran over its nuclear and missile programs.

Rouhani: Enemy’s Plots against Iran Failing

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said all hostile plots against the Iranian nation have ended in failure under strong resistance, adding that his administration has handled the economy despite a $50 billion drop in incomes caused by the US sanctions.

Addressing a cabinet session on Wednesday, Rouhani said the enemy had formulated plots to bring the nation of Iran to its knees with a massive wave of sanctions and economic pressures.

The Iranian nation’s resistance and reliance on the culture of Ashura inflicted successive defeats on the enemy, he said.

The president further reminded the critics that his administration has managed to run the economy with a $50 billion reduction in the earnings after the unprecedented US sanctions were imposed in 2018.

Those leveling unfair criticism at the administration should know that the situation of markets and commodities in Iran is better than in Europe although the country’s income dropped by 9,000 trillion rials, Rouhani said.

He added that the great resistance has forced the US to suffer successive political defeats at the UN Security Council.

Iranians have never given in to the adversaries despite all pressures and difficulties, the president stated.

Rouhani further highlighted Iran’s success in managing the situation after the outbreak of the coronavirus, saying the Islamic Republic did not face any problem in providing hospital beds and intensive care services while some major countries in the world ran into serious troubles.

In comments on Sunday, Rouhani said while the coronavirus pandemic has slashed major economies in the world by up to 20 percent, Iran’s economy has contracted only by 3 percent.

Rouhani has repeatedly said that his administration is engaged in a battle on two fronts at the same time, dealing with the cruel foreign sanctions and addressing the coronavirus and its economic consequences.

The president said in June that the main priority in the administration’s economic plans is to control prices and supply the basic means of life.

National currency to regain its value by help of Iranian nation

Secretary of the Expediency Council and former IRGC commander Mohsen Rezaei has referred to the current economic situation, saying the Iranian nation will get through the difficulties and help the national currency regain its lost value.

In a Friday post on his Twitter account, Rezaei wrote, the national currency’s value depends on several factors including, “security, political stability, natural resources, human resources, production and trade”.

“We currently enjoy the first five factors,” he said, adding that as the Iranian nation managed to organize its own politics and security, it will pass the current economic difficulties and help the currency regain its value via modification the production and business policies.

Iranian rial has been on a falling trend in the past weeks. The national currency plunged to the record low of 192,000 on the unofficial market against dollar late last month.

However, the rial has regained some of its previously lost value after the Central Bank of Iran announced new policies to manage the market. Many people came to sell their dollar banknotes which in turn resulted in further depreciation of foreign currencies, most notably US dollar, against the rial.
