According To Iran News, Iranian Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that the number of coronavirus cases has hit 99,970 in Iran, while 6,340 ones have lost their lives due to the disease.

Iran’s Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour made the announcement, saying that over the past 24 hours, 1,323 new cases of coronavirus were reported, increasing the total number of infections in Iran to 99,970.

Unfortunately, 63 coronavirus patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 6,340, he added.

There are 2,685 people in intensive care, Jahanpour said, adding, of those originally infected, 80,475 were declared recovered.

So far, 519,543 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokesman.

By Tuesday, some 252,408 people around the world have now died from COVID-19, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

The number of confirmed cases exceeds 3.6 million, while nearly 1.2 million people have recovered.

According To Iran News, Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Kianoosh Jahanpoor said on Friday that the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 68,192.

“With 122 new deaths in the past 24 hours, the death toll from the virus has reached 4,232. Unfortunately, we had 1,972 new cases since yesterday,” Jahanpoor said on state TV.

He also put the number of those who have so far recovered from the viral infection at 35,465.

The coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan, China, has infected over 1.5 million people around the world. The global death toll from the pandemic is now more than 90,000.

According To Iran News, Dr. Alireza Zali, who is in charge of Tehran’s Coronavirus Combat Headquarters, praised the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps for opening a 500-bed mobile hospital in the capital amid the country’s ongoing fight against the virus pandemic.

“This fully-equipped hospital has been launched by Ground Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in less than 24 hours which is really a good record. The hospital is unique of its kind in the Western Asia region,” Dr. Zali told reporters on Sunday while paying a visit to the field hospital stationed in eastern Tehran.

What distinguishes it from other sophisticated mobile hospitals in the region is that it has 30 intensive care units that can be moved and settled in a new place and situation swiftly, he added.

Dr. Zali, who is a neurosurgery professor at the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, further said that the hospital can provide medical treatment to coronavirus patients for one entire month without any help from the outside world.

The IRGC has also opened three field hospitals in northern and southern Iranian provinces as part of nationwide efforts to stem the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus deaths in Iran has risen to 3,603 as of Sunday from 3,452 on Saturday, the county’s health ministry announced.

“With 151 new deaths in the past 24 hours, the death toll from the virus has reached 3,603. Unfortunately, we had 2,483 new cases since yesterday,” Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Kianoosh Jahanpoor said during his daily press briefing on Sunday.

He added that the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 58,226.

Jahanpoor said that while 4,057 patients were in critical condition, recoveries had increased over recent days and a total of 22,011 people had left the hospital.

According To Iran News, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the major role of the country’s medical staff in containing the coronavirus epidemic and said undoubtedly, the people will make it through these tough days together.

In a telephone conversation with the president of Qom University of Medical Sciences on Tuesday, Rouhani was briefed on the latest efforts to contain the coronavirus and treat infected patients in Qom Province.

He praised efforts by physicians, nurses and all hospital staff to treat coronavirus patients, as well as measures taken by the Ministry of Health to screen people in various provinces.

These tough days will come to an end sooner or later, he said, adding that the people feel they can rely on hospitals, doctors and nurses and this is invaluable.

“Fortunately, our experienced and specialized medical staff enjoys a good position in the region and the world,” Rouhani noted.

The spokesman for the Iranian Health Ministry said on Tuesday that since the outbreak of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, 988 people have lost their lives and 5,389 others have completely recovered from the infectious disease.

Kianoush Jahanpour said that since yesterday noon, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has increased by 1,178, reaching 16,169.

Over the past 24 hours, 125 patients have lost their lives, the spokesman said, adding that the death toll from the new coronavirus epidemic in the country has risen to 988.

Fortunately, 5,389 patients infected with the COVID-19 have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital so far, he said.

Medical staffs in all 31 provinces of Iran have been working tirelessly over the past weeks to contain the novel coronavirus.

First detected in Wuhan city in central China in December, the virus has spread to more than 140 countries.

More than 182,000 have been infected globally, according to the WHO. Of those, about 80,000 have recovered.
