Raisi Picks Mokhber as First Vice President

TEHRAN (Iran News) – New President of Iran, Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, appointed his first vice president and the chief of staff of his office on Sunday.

In a decree issued on Sunday, President Raisi appointed Mohammad Mokhber as the vice president. On Thursday the President Office refuted some media outlets’ reports on the appointment of Mokhber.

With a PhD in international law, Mokhber has been the chairman of the Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam Khomeini since 2007. His institution has produced the first homegrown vaccine for the coronavirus.

Mokhber possesses 2 doctoral degrees, consisting: a doctorate academic paper (and a MA) in the subject of “international rights”; he has also a doctorate degree in the subject of management. As well as doctoral, Mokhber holds a MA in management field, too.

He was formerly head of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), the chairman of board at Sina Bank and deputy governor of Khuzestan Province. He was born in Dezful, Iran.

Meanwhile in another presidential decree, Gholam Hossein Esmaili was appointed as the chief of staff of the president’s office. The war veteran used to serve as the Judiciary spokesperson.

Esmaili was born in 1344 in Birjand. From 2009 to May 2014, he was the head of the Iranian Prisons Organization.

Raisi was sworn in as the eighth president of Iran in an inauguration ceremony at the Parliament on August 5.

He has two weeks to present his ministers to the legislature.

According to reports, President Raisi is to announce his picks for cabinet and to introduce them to Majlis for the vote of confidence. Raisi was to unveil his ministers yesterday but due to some unknown reasons it was postponed to the upcoming days. It is said Raisi and Mokhber are finalizing their pick for economy minister.

Jahangiri congratulates Sri Lanka on Independence Day

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s First Vice President Es’hagh Jahangiri sent a message to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to congratulate the anniversary of the independence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

In a Wednesday message to Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Mahinda RajapaksaJahangiri, Jahangiri congratulated him on the country’s anniversary of the Independence Day.

Jahangiri expressed hope that the friendly relations between Tehran and Colombo would be further expanded in the bilateral, regional and international fields.

Sri Lanka’s Independence Day is a national holiday celebrated annually on 4 February to commemorate the country’s political independence from British rule in 1948. Usually, the main celebration takes place in Colombo, with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and performances.

US Deployment in Region Means Insecurity

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said that the US force deployment has brought insecurity with themselves to any regional state they went.

Wherever in the region, the US deployment began, insecurity came later, Jahangiri said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Thursday.

He added that US forces have been present in Afghanistan and Iraq in the past few years, while such a presence has brought nothing to those nations because after that presence they have not been happy even for a single day.

Foreign forces in the region are creating insecurity as they cannot help restore security and calm, Jahangiri noted.

In relevant remarks in July, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif blasted the US for its destabilizing measures across the world from Latin America to the Persian Gulf.

“Wherever the US makes a move, it stirs insecurity and instability there. Today, it foments insecurity in the Persian Gulf as well as the South American and Latin American region with its presence,” Zarif told reporters after arrival in Caracas to participate in a Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) conference at the time.

“We do not know anywhere in the world where the US presence has stirred stability; wherever they have stepped in, they have exerted pressure on people and increased extremism and terrorism,” he added.

Infrastructural Developments despite US Sanctions, Iran VP Praises

TEHRAN (Iran News)- Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri praised the country’s achievements and infrastructural developments despite US sanctions and pressures.

The Iranian government, addressing infrastructural developments despite US sanctions and pressures, materialize economic development, Jahangiri said on Thursday, noticed the inauguration ceremony of a hospital in Miandoab in the Northwestern Iranian province of West Azarbaijan.

He also lauded inauguration of over 10 phases of South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf region in Southern Iran.

Although the US is determined to take anti-Iran measures more, it is has been subject to condemnation of the International Community, Jahangiri said in reference to violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 by the US Administration.

Meantime, Jahangiri said that the issue of security is very important because he said, the economic development will only be available under the blessing of national security.

In relevant remarks on Tuesday, Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said that the administration of US President Donald Trump had been deceived by hypocrites who claimed the Islamic Republic was weak, adding that it was months now that the White House was begging Tehran for talks after being disillusioned with its false presumptions.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 18th Session of Kordestan Planning and Development Council, Nobakht referred to the US begging for talks with Iran in recent months, saying that the reason why the White House is making such a demand is that Americans now well know the ruling establishment in Iran is much stronger than they thought.

He added that French President Emmanuel Macron announced repeatedly last year that the Americans are not so interested to hold talks with Iran as they say wait a few months for Iran to finish.

Noting that Americans were deceived by the false slogans of the hypocrites, he added that now the US administration has declared several times that it is ready for talks and this is indicative of the country’s high capabilities in all fields, including the economy.

Iran’s economy stable a year after struggling with sanctions: VP Jahangiri

Es’hagh Jahangiri made the comments on Tuesday in the ‘Second National Gathering of Economic Agents, the Leaders of Development’ which was held in the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines building in Tehran.

Jahangiri said that the Americans sought to overthrow the Iranian establishment through sanctions and in line with that goal imposed the toughest, unprecedented sanctions ever on the country’s economy

The vice president added that through pressures on the country’s economy, the Americans sought to topple the political establishment by targeting the livelihood of the Iranian people and restricting access to foreign currencies.

But, Jahangiri noted, a year after the big shock to the economy, it is now in a stable position.

Meanwhile, although the vice president stated that the most part of the economic shock was because of the sanctions, he did not rule out that mismanagement and wrong policies of the government also played in the economic problems.

He described expanding relations with neighboring countries as a great opportunity for the economic agents during the sanctions period.

Veep fires back at Trump’s contradictory remarks

“Americans are saying contradictory words both when they threaten Iran, by displaying their military power and sending aircraft carriers to the region, and when they talk about negotiations,” said Jahangiri in a local event on Friday night.

Iran and six major world powers reached an agreement in 2015, verifying that Iran is not after nuclear weapons, he noted, adding, “this is while Trump said Friday in Japan that he will open all doors for Iran if Tehran says no to nukes.”

“Our enemy doesn’t understand the structure of Iran’s government. When the Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued a fatwa on banning nuclear weapons … then no individual in the country is allowed to approach nukes,” he highlighted.

He went on to say that the International Atomic Energy Agency has verified Iran’s commitment to the JCPOA in 14 consecutive reports.

“Americans know all these, but they still want to fight with a powerful and historic nation. They will surely live to regret it,” Jahangiri noted.

“We hope that Americans would come to their senses and stop these pressures and let Iran continue on the development path, and we would have a safe region and hold dialogues with regional countries,” he added.

In a Friday joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, US President Donald Trump said that Washington is not after “regime change” in Iran, rather it wants Tehran to stop seeking nuclear weapons. “Iran has tremendous economic potentials. And I look forward to letting them get back to the stage,” he added.

Trump withdrew US from Iran nuclear deal, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), back in May 2018, re-imposing tough sanctions on Tehran. Other signatories to the deal have vowed to save it through securing Iran’s economic interests; however, no practical measure has been yet adopted to counter US illegal sanctions.

VP calls on EU to take practical steps for JCPOA implementation

The Iranian First vice president Es’hagh Jahangiri has told euronews that the European countries have faced a big test in their history since the World War II with regard to Iran nuclear deal, calling on them to take practical measures to implement the deal.

Es’hagh Jahangiri during an interview with euronews today, which will be published on their website tomorrow, said that Iran is satisfied with the political support of the three major European countries of the UK, France and Germany for Iran nuclear deal so far.

But, the first vice president said that Iran has not seen any practical steps taken by those three European countries to implement the deal so far.

He further called on the EU to hold on to their independence and not to give in to US pressures, saying that Europe has now faced a big test in their history since the World War II.
