TEHRAN (Iran News) – Mohammadreza Dezfulian, one of entrepreneurs and mangers of the logistics and transportation industry, has, in an analysis, weighed in on the importance of this industry during the corornavirus outbreak, its future and the necessity of offering special support to drivers working in this industry.

“A drop in demand in different sectors of the industry and an increase in vacancies, the need for healthy and trained workforce, unpredictable transportation restrictions in certain countries and an increase in the length of time spent on inspecting the transportation fleet will be among the major challenges facing the transportation industry until the end of the year 2021,” said the entrepreneur on the effects of the COVID-19 virus on the future of the pandemic.

“Moreover, the transportation industry is one of the world’s most important industries during the coronavirus pandemic. The need for providing the main supplies needed by factories as well as timely and prompt distribution and supply of products, namely medicines, hygienic items and foodstuff, to consumers across the world via online shopping, makes the need for utilizing the best fleets and workforce and easing regulations all the more necessary,” Mohammadreza Dezfulian added.

At a time when some countries have introduced special transportation regulations, the prompt supply of raw materials for companies producing foodstuff, medicines and hygienic items requires a dynamic fleet and the prediction of the situation in critical conditions, says Dezfulian.

“Trained workforce and transportation fleet are two key contributors to the success of logistics and transportation during the coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

“As for the fleet and equipment, logistics and transportation firms should be able to improve their fleet and resources management skills; however, the bigger challenge exists on the human front as drivers, in particular, are very much exposed to coronavirus infection because of travelling to various areas,” the entrepreneur added.

“Human resources in the logistics and transportation industry, especially drivers, are at the frontline of fighting the coronavirus pandemic because, on the one hand, they shoulder the important responsibility of sending and distributing vital items, goods and medicines across the world and, on the other, they themselves as well as their families are highly likely to contact coronavirus as they travel to different locations,” Mohammadreza Dezfulian said.

So, he noted, it is highly important to support drivers in the transportation industry.

“Whether we intend to send vital goods, namely medicines and basic commodities, to other parts of the world, or we want to maintain the chain of supplies to factories during the coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary to pay due regard to the drivers’ community and their health,” he added.

“Furthermore, illness and drivers’ infection with the COVID-19 virus not only stops the supply of goods and jeopardizes the chain of supplying commodities across the world, but can also further spread the disease as individuals working in this industry naturally travel a lot,” Mohammadreza Dezfulian said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Ferdows is a business law graduate from Loyola Marymount University in the United States and is one of the strongest voices supporting startups. She is also an investor in many startup companies that are usually based on risky ideas and their business models are mostly disruptive.

One of the reasons she entered this sector is that she has worked in the biggest startup hub in the world in the US and has done extensive research on startups at the international level. Undoubtedly, there were many obstacles in her way, but her interest in investing and supporting startup businesses has determined her to continue.

At this meeting, Mitra Ferdows placed a lot of emphasis on supporting startups and new businesses and considered it a necessity.

“Today, startups play an undeniable role in the development and prosperity of societies,” said the startup activist and investor. “Creating a new way of thinking, creating jobs, advancing industry, creating new jobs, earning money and growing the economy through technology is the result of supporting this emerging phenomenon.” She added.

Ferdows added: “If our goal is economic growth and the creation of new jobs, we must trust and support people with dreams. Although investing in startups is risky, they can be supported by research and potential investment opportunities.”

She, who has a history of investing in various startups, continued: “New startups need to raise capital to achieve their goals in a short time. On the other hand, investors can buy a part of the shares of startup companies, while partnering, to help achieve their goals.”

“The covid-19 pandemic has seriously damaged traditional businesses around the world and in some cases led to their complete closure,” Ferdows said. “This was a compelling reason to support startups, especially online startups. The boom in startups not only creates jobs and income, but in some cases can help traditional businesses prevent stagnation or even closure.” She added.

“The initial obstacles for starting startups are the cost of setting up an office, equipment, establishing the company, administration, law, tax, and so on, so we have to support young graduates of related fields to overcome these obstacles.” She said of the mechanisms of supporting startups.

“So far, a large number of talented young people have been supported by us in the field of scholarships, employment and partnerships for starting new businesses, and we are trying to continue this movement. Through our team, we are identifying start-ups in need of financial support.” Mitra Ferdows concluded.

Director of the Central Insurance of Iran said the country’s air and marine transportation industries are covered by insurance provided by local companies.

Gholamreza Soleimani on Tuesday said all Iranian oil tankers, ships and the air transportation industry enjoy insurance cover from local insurance companies.

In separate comments earlier in the day, he said Iran’s insurance industry has successfully avoided being affected by the anti-Iran sanctions.

Although the insurance industry was one of the first sectors targeted by the US sanctions against Tehran, the Central Insurance of Iran could successfully bypass the restrictions and provide sustainable insurance coverage for Iranian companies, Soleimani had noted.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was achieved in Vienna in 2015 after years of negotiations among Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

On November 4, Washington imposed sanctions on insurers, reinsurers, brokers and shipping firms working with Iran.

However, Iran managed to keep exporting oil to its customers after the local companies began handling the insurance issues in the export of crude shipments.
