<p>TEHRAN (<a href="https://www.irannewsdaily.com/">Iran News</a>) Ramtin Kakavand and Rosha Akbari performed brilliantly in the two-day blitz segment of the championships that attracted over 300 players from 31 countries, showcasing the rising global interest in youth chess.</p>
<p>Kakavand grabbed the gold medal in the under-13 age group, with 8 points from 9 matches, whereas, Akbari won the title in the under-15 age group for girls with 7.5 points from 9 games.</p>
<p>The Blitz champions in both open and girls categories were held across all five age groups of 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17</p>
<p>Finally, the Iranian team stood in fourth place in the ranking and medal tally, behind Uzbekistan and Turkiye, which came in second and third, respectively.</p>
<p>Kakavand grabbed the gold medal in the under-13 age group, with 8 points from 9 matches, whereas, Akbari won the title in the under-15 age group for girls with 7.5 points from 9 games.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>TEHRAN (<a href="https://irannewsdaily.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Iran News</a>) – Iranian chess player Pedram Oliaei won the title of International Chess Referee from the World Chess Federation, it was announced on July 8.</p>

<p>Head of Iran’s Khorasan Razavi Province Chess Department Reza Pasha-Nejati made the announcement adding that the International Chess Referee is the highest chess refereeing title in the world won by Oliaei, 30, IRNA reported.</p>
<p>According to Pasha-Nejati, three other male and one female chess players from Khorasan Razavi Province have so far succeeded to receive the same title.</p>
<p>Taghi Baradari Azghad, Alireza Tafreshi, Reza Pashanejati, and Maryam Golmakani were the four chess players who had previously won the title of International Chess Referee from the World Chess Federation, he said.</p>

<p>Sara Khadem published a photo on her Instagram account and said she has retired from the national team.</p>
<p>Khadem is an Iranian chess player who holds the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM).</p>
<p>On Saturday, Iranian woman taekwondo athlete Kimia Alizadeh also announced her retirement from the national team.</p>
<p>Alizadeh was 18-year-old when she won a bronze medal for taekwondo at the 2016 summer Olympics.</p>
<p>She is the only woman to ever win an Olympic medal for Iran.</p>
