TEHRAN (Iran News) Hossein Jahani, the head of the airline’s public relations office, said on Friday that flights to England, France, Austria, Germany, and Italy are being operated normally and based on a set schedule.”All flights to Europe ‘on normal schedule’: IranAir”

He noted that the airliner is set to re-launch flights to Rome, Karachi, Beirut, and Istanbul in the following months.

Many flights to Europe were postponed after the start of the coronavirus pandemic in mid-February.

TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (MNA) – Iran’s national flag carrier, IranAir, is currently operating all flights to the European destinations on schedule after the routes were disrupted for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Low-cost airline Ryanair has slashed its winter flight schedule further as the outlook for the aviation industry darkens. The Irish airline now intends to fly just 40 per cent of last year’s schedule between November and March, down from a previously planned 60 per cent, following a sharp fall in bookings. Michael O’Leary, Ryanair’s chief executive, blamed the cuts on “government mismanagement of EU air travel” as quarantine restrictions weaken demand for travel.

With increased cases of coronavirus being reported in countries near and far from China including South Korea, Italy, and Iran, numerous routes around the world are being cut to prevent the further spread of the disease.

The reductions in service are caused by a mix of low-demand and government mandate restricting travel to certain regions. Middle Eastern and Asian countries are among those being the most proactive in attempting to stem the spread of the virus as it finds its way across their regions.

While most services are being cut on routes within those regions, the effects of the virus on air travel can be felt as far as North America.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran Air has restored its flights to Europe days after the continent imposed restrictions on Iran’s flag carrier due to coronavirus outbreak in Iran.

“The airline’s flights to the European destinations have been restored following consultation by Iran’s Foreign Ministry with European authorities, cooperation by Iran Civil Aviation Organization and Iran Air’s follow-up,” according to ISNA.

The news agency said that Iran Air’s flights to Europe except those to Vienna, Stockholm, and Gothenburg, will be carried out according to schedule.

The airline said passengers should keep in touch to obtain more information about the resumed flights.

IRNA reported on Sunday that Iran Air has stopped all flights to European destinations, citing a statement from the Civil Aviation Organization.

“With attention to the restrictions that have been placed on flights by Europe for unclear reasons all Iran Air flights to European destinations have been suspended until further notice,” IRNA said, citing the statement.

On Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to France Bahram Qassemi lambasted certain European governments for imposing restrictions on Iranian flights, saying the move would go down in history as shameful given that Iran is currently fighting a serious epidemic almost on its own.

Qassemi wrote on the Twitter account of the Iranian Embassy in France that instead of helping Iran, certain governments in Europe have decided to follow the United States and pile more pressure on Iran.

The envoy said it was a historic disgrace that Iran, a country already grappling with harsh US sanctions, is being denied of help in its fight against coronavirus.

“Instead of understanding the situation and helping the Iranians, some people, willingly or unwillingly and through vague excuses and in line with America’s maximum pressure, are adding to these pressures,” read part of Qassemi’s statement.

The envoy was referring to recent restrictions imposed on Iran’s flag carrier Iran Air forcing the airline to suspend all its flights to European destinations.

Iran Air announced on Sunday that it was trying to find a way out of the “unknown restrictions” imposed by European authorities.

That comes as Iran has dismissed claims that banning flights to Europe was related to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

For the past two years, the United States has been trying to persuade European governments that they should stop processing flights by Iran’s Mahan Air.

That comes as Iran Air, also known as Homa, has introduced new routes to compensate for Mahan Air’s canceled flights to European destinations.

The recent restrictions on Homa’s flights to Europe mean that no Iranian airline is currently servicing any flights to Europe.

That leaves many Iranians stranded in European countries where the number of people infected with the new coronavirus keeps surging.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s main airline, Iran Air, launched three new flight routes to the Qatari capital Doha amid a boom in bilateral relations that have helped trade flourish between the two countries.

A senior Homa official said that the new routes will accommodate flights between three cities in southern Iran to Doha, Press TV reported.

“Routine weekly flights to Doha from airports in Bandar Abbas, Assaluyeh and Lamerd are the three flight routes that this company has moved to launch in these days,” said Abolqassem Jalali, who serves as the commerce and operation deputy at Iran Air.

Jalali said planes that Iran Air purchased two years ago from the French turboprop maker ATR will serve the new flight routes.

He said the a first round trip flight from Doha to Assaluyeh, in Iran’s Bushehr Province and on the coast of the Persian Gulf, was just launched on Sunday and will take place on the same day every week.

The official said new flights between Bandar Abbas and Doha started on February 6 and will continue on Sundays and Thursdays every week.

The route from Lamerd in the Iranian Fars Province to Doha had also begun on Thursday and will continue once a week on the same day, said Jalali.

The new flight routes come amid growing economic and political relations between Iran and Qatar. That has come against the backdrop of a nearly three-year-old blockade imposed on the Persian Gulf country by several Arab states in the region, including Saudi Arabia.

Iranian businesses have taken a more active role in Qatar since the blockade was imposed in June 2017.

The routes also come after Iran launched a first shipping service from Bushehr to Qatar’s Hamad port in August 2019.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s flag carrier Iran Air will resume direct flights to the Italian capital Rome on February 3.

Iran Air will operate Tehran to Rome flights on Mondays and Thursdays from Imam Khomeini International Airport, IRNA reported on Tuesday

Currently, Iran Air operates flights to Milan every Tuesday and Friday.

The idea of establishing the service was put forward last November, several days after Iranian aviation authorities confirmed that the Italian government had banned Mahan Air, Iran’s second-largest airline, from the country’s airspace under pressure from the United States.

The ban came nearly two months after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo paid a visit to Rome, urging the Italian government to comply with Washington’s sanctions on Iran and to stop accommodating Mahan flights.

The U.S. government has imposed sanctions on Mahan Air, accusing it of providing services to the IRGC, Iran’s elite military force which has also been blacklisted by Washington. Germany and France have both already banned flights by the airline. However, no similar decision has so far been made against Iran Air.

Last month, Italian ambassador to Iran Giuseppe Perrone said that the two countries are in talks to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of cultural heritage, making the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony to launch a joint project for developing cultural heritage and tourism.

He described Iran “as a country that is very rich in terms of cultural sites and archeological sites… so there is a lot for people to discover,” adding “Iran is a country that has a great and [un-]tapped potential and when it comes to tourism, cultural heritage, it has a lot to offer.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Transportation Minister Mohammad Eslami announced that his country will add new passenger plane to its fleet in the near future despite the fact that the US unilateral sanctions are barring foreign companies and entities from selling anything related to civil aviation to Tehran.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Eslami announced that the new airbus passenger plane will be delivered to the country in the very near future amid sanctions that have made it difficult for airlines to renovate their fleet.

The minister did not elaborate on details of the deliveries, weather the planes were new and which airline would get hold of them.

Local media said that the planes will be delivered to flag carrier Homa, known internationally as IranAir.

There was no confirmation from the company, neither was there any other report suggesting that the airline prepared to get the deliveries in the near future.

However, a Friday report by another local source said that Iran’s Kish Airlines had leased three Airbus planes from a foreign country and that the deliveries were due.

The delivery of the three new Airbus planes to Iran comes amid tight sanctions imposed by the United States which have effectively barred the country from buying new aircraft.

The sanctions, enacted in November last year, even caused Airbus to stop the planned delivery of planes ordered by Iran in 2016.

Airbus has delivered only three of a total of 112 planes ordered by Homa. Two more deliveries planned for late 2018 did not happen.

Homa has also ordered 80 planes from American plane-maker Boeing and 20 more from Franco-Italian turboprop maker ATR.

The ATR sent 11 aircraft to Iran before the US imposed bans on the sale of commercial planes to Iran last year while Boeing has made no deliveries at all.

Iranian officials say the government has paid no down payment for future deliveries of the planes ordered in 2016.
