In a statement on the occasion of the International Quds Day on Thursday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran believes the establishment of tranquility and lasting peace in Palestine will be possible only through the settlement of key issues associated with the Palestine crisis, including the cessation of occupation, the return of refugees, the determination of Palestine’s future system based on a referendum attended by all main residents of Palestine and finally the establishment of an integrated Palestinian government.”

The statement noted that Iran will continue to support the Palestinian people and stand up to Israeli “criminal occupiers.” It was issued to mark the International Quds Day which was designated by Imam Khomeini. The day is marked on the last Friday of Ramadan every year.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran insists on Tehran’s pressing ahead with its policy of supporting the Palestinian people’s liberation struggles and standing up to usurper and criminal occupiers, and calls on all world nations, especially the dignified and resistant people of Iran to participate in programs scheduled to honor the International Quds Day (May 07, 2021), asking all Muslim nations and governments to put pressure on superpowers as well as official and international authorities to make them fulfill their legal human responsibility of backing Palestinian people, ending the occupation, stopping the Israeli regime’s savage crimes in Bait-ul-Muqaddas and their acts of aggression plus tension-provoking moves in the region, and [all Muslim nations and governments] to keep the flame of resistance and struggles alive in order to preserve the voice of justice which calls for refusal to forgo Palestine,” the statement continued.

The Foreign Ministry praised Imam Khomeini’s decision to designate the Quds Day, calling it a historical initiative.

“Imam Khomeini’s everlasting and historical initiative of designating the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the ‘International Quds Day’ has kept the cause of the liberation of Palestine alive and unmasked the Zionists’ tyranny and crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people,” the statement noted.

“Over the past years, the International Quds Day has turned into a symbol of fighting occupation and bullying among Muslims and all freedom-seekers across the world, and has played a unique role in thwarting the wicked and anti-human schemes of aggressors and bullies in the world such as the United States and Israel against Palestinian people,” it added.

“Today we keep the cause of International Quds Day alive at a time when the Israeli regime’s apartheid tyranny and crimes, as well as the violation of Palestinians’ rights, have intensified, and, by marking this day, Muslims and freedom-seekers around the world play an invaluable role in boosting the morale of Palestinian people and warding off the Israeli regime’s diabolical policies, especially its destruction of holy Quds and forcing its residents out of their homes,” said the statement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also said that Iran has supported the Palestinian people and called for a plebiscite in Palestine, which he described as a democratic solution.

“Palestine is a yardstick for justice. Few measure up. But Iran has proudly stood with Palestinian people—who resist the brutality of an apartheid regime. Quds Day is yearly reminder of moral imperative of global solidarity for Palestine. Democratic Solution= Palestine Referendum,” the chief Iranian diplomat said on Twitter.

He also translated this tweet to other languages such as Arabic, Turkish and Russian.
The Iranian foreign minister also discussed the Palestine issue during a recent telephone conversation with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad. The conversation took place on Wednesday.

Zarif and Mekdad pointed to the International Quds Day, and once again stressed their all-out support for the Palestinian nation, according to a separate statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Palestine has been restive over the past few weeks due to Israeli mistreatment of Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem (al-Quds) and other parts of the West Bank.

Israeli authorities imposed new bans on the residents of East Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan, effectively preventing them from practicing their faith. To make things worse, Israeli authorities paved the way for extremist far-right Jews to stage anti-Arab marches. These extremists marched in the occupied Jerusalem chanting provocative slogans such as “death to Arabs,” something that enraged Palestinians and prompted them to launch what some observers called another Intifada which soon spread to other parts of Palestine, including the Gaza strip.

Hundreds of Palestinians were injured during the Israeli crackdown on them. Israel also bombed sites in Gaza.

The Palestinians are locked in a decades-long struggle against Israel to protect their cities and identity. They have staged countless demonstrations so far to make the world understand that Israel is an occupying force and that the Palestinians have the right to live in peace on their ancestral land.

Israel is also trying to evict the Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah’s neighborhood in the occupied East Jerusalem, a move that caused an international outcry and a surge in tensions in Palestine.

UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland issued a statement that he was “deeply concerned” by the violence in Palestine.

“I am deeply concerned by the surge in tensions and violence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan,” the UN official said in a statement. “In the past few days alone, two Palestinians, including a woman and a child, were killed in separate incidents, by Israeli security forces (ISF) in the context of clashes or attacks.”

He also said that the latest developments related to the eviction of Palestine families in Sheikh Jarrah and other neighborhoods in the occupied East Jerusalem are also very worrying.

“I urge Israel to cease demolitions and evictions, in line with its obligations under international humanitarian law,” Wennesland said.

Jordan, a neighboring Arab country directly affected by developments in Palestine, called for immediate action to stop the eviction of Palestinians from Sheikh Jarrah.

“We urge effective, swift international action to prevent the crime of evicting Palestinians from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah,” Ayman Safadi, Jordanian foreign minister, said on Twitter.

According to Safadi, Palestinians threatened with eviction in Sheikh Jarrah are the rightful owners of their homes as documents provided by Jordan to PNA [Palestinian National Authority] and home owners prove beyond doubt.

“As the occupying power, Israel is legally responsible for ensuring these ownership rights are protected,” Safadi said, adding, “Israeli illegal & provocative measures in occupied Jerusalem, including the inhumane threat of eviction of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah from their homes, are pushing tension to dangerous limits. Jerusalem is a red line. This is playing with fire.”

Safadi also welcomed a statement by France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK urging Israel to stop settlement-building in the occupied West Bank.

“We urge the government of Israel to reverse its decision to advance the construction of 540 settlement units in the Har Homa E area of the occupied West Bank, and to cease its policy of settlement expansion across the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” the joint European statement said.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei noted the issue of Palestine remains the most important and very much a live issue for the whole Muslim community.

“There are two significant factors which determine the future,” said the Leader in a televised message on the occasion of International Quds Day.

The Leader said the Israeli regime has turned occupied Palestine into a terrorist base.

So, he added, fighting the despotic regime of Israel amounts to fighting terrorism.

He said that the Israeli regime is getting weaker year after year, adding that one cannot find any weaker entity than the Zionist regime of Israel.

Today, which is the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan, is marked by the people across the world as International Quds Day. The day was designated by Late Leader Imam Khomeini in 1979 to express support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and the Israeli regime.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the issue of Palestine as the most important and most active issue for the Islamic world, and then touched upon the atrocities and crimes done by the Israeli regime against the Palestinians.

He said that the Zionists drove out Palestinians from their homeland, and described Israel as the weakest regime in the world which is based on terrorism.

He praised the Palestinian and Lebanese iconic figures Emad Moghnieh and Fat’hi Shaghaghi as well as the Iranian top commander martyr General Qassem Soleimani as people who were martyred in the fight for Palestine.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further added that “Greeting be upon martyrs of Resistance.”

He went on in Arabic to say that Palestine and Quds have been occupied by devils who massacre honorable men.

He said that all Muslims and Islamic governments are responsible towards Palestine and they have a duty to continue the struggle against Israel.

Today, unity is the biggest weapon for the Palestinians, Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He described Zionists and the US as the biggest enemies of Palestinian unity.

He added that the pivot of Palestinian unity should be national Jihad, lack of trust in enemies.

The Leader continued to point out that “Today, the hope of achieving victory is stronger than ever.”

He also described the normalization of ties with the Israeli regime by some weak Arab states as a stab in the back of Palestine, calling on the Palestinian fighters to continue to fight against the usurping regime.

Today we hold international Quds Day in a condition that Quds is in its most dangerous and threatening condition of its all times. The Deal of Century is the deep and mischievous plot which has been planned by arrogant evils, but with hope in God, resistance of Palestine nation and sacrifice of Palestinian martyrs, this evil plot will be doomed to failure.

We consider aggression to Al-Aqsa Mosque as aggression to Muslim world and with God’s help and prudence of esteemed Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei we will give a proper response to such violations and insults in due time.

The Supreme Leader yesterday in his seven-article guidelines on the International Quds Day said, “Palestine will not be separated from the body of Islam. Arrogant powers have lost their power of supporting the Zionist regime.” He then said the main and necessary thing for all freedom-seeking nations is to keep the flag of Palestine hoisting. He further said, “The main policy of the Arrogant Powers and Zionism is to push aside the issue of Palestine in the minds of Muslim communities and to cause it to fade into oblivion. The most urgent responsibility in this regard is fighting this treachery, which is conducted by the enemy’s political and cultural mercenaries in Islamic countries. According To Iran News, The Iranian Embassy in Amman held a panel discussion in commemoration of the International Quds Day, attended by a number of pro-Palestine activists.

The panel discussion, entitled “Quds Day in Shadow of Deal of the Century”, was held at the Iranian Embassy in Jordan on Thursday.

The meeting, held ahead of the International Quds Day, was attended by two Palestinian figures, namely Leila Khaled and Farouk al-Ezzah, and by former Jordanian lawmaker Hamada Yousef al-Faraneh.

In the panel discussion, Ms. Khaled said the new Palestinian generations have not forgotten the memories of their motherland contrary to what the founders of the Zionist regime had expected.

Ezzah also noted that negotiations over Palestine have been always doomed to failure, stressing that the only remaining option is resistance after the failure of all political methods.

Elsewhere in the gathering, Faraneh denounced the deal of the century as the result of several regional developments, including the weakness and disunity among the Palestinian groups, the wars in the Arab world, as in Syria, Iraq and Libya, and the crisis in the ties between Iran and the Persian Gulf countries.

TEHRAN – The Israeli occupation of Palestine will not last long, said President Hassan Rouhani on the eve of Quds Day.

Speaking at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Rouhnai said that Iranians will never accept the decades-long suppression of Palestinians.

The President said that this year, on International Quds Day, we will convey the voice of the oppressed people of Palestine to the world in any way possible, noting that we are always at contention with the oppressors and support the oppressed of the world.

“Quds Day this year will be marked by conditions in the so-called white zones, which are Friday prayers, and people will go to Friday prayers there to convey their call and the call of the oppressed people of Palestine to the world,” he added.

“Even those who are in non-white zones, again through cyberspace or real space within the framework that is possible will fulfill their responsibility, and we will not forget that main goal under any circumstances,” the president said.

Rouhani added, “One of the main pillars of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran is to stand against the oppressors and stand up for the oppressed.”

“The Palestinian people have been displaced from their homes for more than 70 years,” he said, adding “Their homes have been seized. They are oppressed every day by oppressors and the world’s arrogant powers, especially the United States, have always supported the oppressors, the Zionists, racism, apartheid, and worked against the oppressed, but we believe that the right will prevail over the wrong.”

The president noted,” There is a lot of pressure on the Palestinian people and every day a new conspiracy is being hatched by the United States against Muslims and the Palestinian people. But at the same time, the Palestinian people’s firm will and resilience will continue, and sooner or later, they will gain victory, and we will celebrate this very important day.”

He emphasized, “Quds will not be forgotten. Quds will not remain under the occupation of the oppressors. The land of Palestine will one day be liberated. By no means do we will accept the operation and aggression. Even today, this call is as loud as possible. We will celebrate this very important day of Quds.”

Rouhani further referred to the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan and said, “We should be happy with the situation that has happened to our two neighbors these days.”

“The Iraqi people were in trouble due to the conditions of the government and the formation of a new government. An agreement was reached in Iraq between Shia, Sunni, Kurdish and Arab groups, based on which a government was formed that this would be a good step for the stability of Iraq and the economic exhilaration of this country in these difficult days, and we as brother and friend and neighbors have always been by Iraq’s side, and we will be,” Rouhani emphasized.

He added, “On our eastern border, the differences that existed in Afghanistan were solved and led to an understanding and agreement that we hope will establish stability and security in this country.”

“We are most sensitive to the fate of the Afghan people because we have made a great contribution to helping the people of this country during these 42 years and in the jihad of their Mujahideen during their jihad, and today we are with them as brothers and we have been serving even Afghan immigrants during this time and we are serving again,” the President noted. 101

Quds will not be liberated without resistance, al-Humim said. No one should think that Quds is for sale or it cannot be liberated, he added.

It is very sad that some Arab countries condemn those who stand against occupiers, he said.

He stressed on the prohibition of normalizing ties with the Zionist regime, noting that such an act is a betrayal to aspirations of the Islamic Ummah.

Bahrain’s leading Shia cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim

According To Iran News, On the occasion of the International Quds Day, Iranian Ambassador to Bishkek in a video conference on Wednesday with the head of Palestinian Studies and Defense Association in Kyrgyzstan discussed fair resolution of the Palestinian issue.

In this conversation, Iranian envoy Saeid Kharrazi expressed content about the formation of an association in Kyrkyztan for addressing Palestine’s issues.

He referred to ‘Deal of the Century’ as the latest conspiracy against Muslims, which is better to be called as ‘Betrayal of the century’.

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani has said that the country will hold Eid al-Fitr and Quds Day events in compliance with protocols set to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

Speaking on Saturday, Rouhani said that Eid al-Fitr prayers, which mark the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, will be held in religious centers across the country.

He added, however, that the prayers will only be held in local religious centers as opposed to major prayer grounds where worshippers usually convene in each city to mark the event.

Rouhani, who made the comments addressing the National Headquarters against the Coronavirus, said that Quds Day will also be commemorated in “white” regions where the coronavirus is not deemed a threat.

He added that Quds Day will take place without its usual annual rallies and will instead be held within the perimeters of Friday prayers, which coincide with Quds Day.

Rouhani exempted the capital Tehran from the measure, where the Quds Day event will be organized in the form of a car protest.

“It will be a symbolic measure using vehicles and it will be organized by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC),” he said.

Pro-Palestine activists in Iran and elsewhere are making plans to replace street rallies with online events to mark the International Quds Day.

As a legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, Quds Day has been designated on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan to mark worldwide Muslim solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

International Quds day has become a global movement against colonialism and arrogant powers and really an unjust global system.

The event was commemorated every year with major rallies across Iran and beyond.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani said that Iranians have to recognize that the country’s “difficult days” have yet to go by and that the country is still facing a “dangerous virus”.

He added that the country has to prepare itself for “a few months of life with the coronavirus”.

“However, our situation is better than before,” the president added.

“During this time, people and health workers have become much more adept,” in countering the coronavirus, he said.

“During the initial days of the outbreak, we didn’t know if our N95 masks were enough or whether we could make our own…we didn’t know if we had enough ventilators or if we could produce our own,” he said.

“Today, we have gone past that,” he added.
