TEHRAN (Iran News) – The director of the Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry’s plan for reviving and developing small mines has said over 670 idle mines have been revived in the country since the launch of the program in late March 2019 until September 22, 2021.

“Since the beginning of the program until the end of [the Iranian calendar month of] Shahrivar (September 22, 2021), the identification, monitoring and prioritization of 7,000 mines, and mineral zones were done based on the comparative advantage of each province,” Reza Azimi told IRNA on Monday.

According to Azimi, of the said number, clinical operations were carried out on 1,713 mines, and solutions were provided, of which a total of 670 mines were revived and developed.

Some 15 mineral processing units were also supported and developed across the country under the framework of the program.

Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) which is in charge of implementing the reviving program, has also inked 37 memorandums of understanding for investment in infrastructure, scientific, research, and knowledge-based projects under the framework of the mentioned program, the official added.

The organization has also introduced 62 mining companies to the Mining Investment Insurance Fund for obtaining facilities and eight mining startups are also being supported, he stated.

IMIDRO is conducting the program with the aim of providing feedstock for mineral industries, increasing production and completing the mining industry’s product chain, and developing and creating sustainable employment since the beginning of the Iranian calendar year 1398 (March 21, 2019).

Following this program, so far various small-scale mines including chromite, manganese, hematite, and dolomite, iron ore, copper, and construction stone mines have been surveyed by monitoring and diagnosing the problems of the mines and providing solutions for resolving their issues.

Over the past few years with new resilient economy strategies coming into play, the mining sector has become a major point of focus for the Iranian government and various organizations and bodies active in this sector have been tasked to implement new programs for boosting this sector.

As a major state-owned holding company active in the mining sector in the country, IMIDRO has been playing a significant part in the mentioned planning.

The organization has been implementing several new programs in all the main fields of the mining industry including exploration, machinery development, extraction and also reviving the country’s idle mines.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO) announced that 400 idle industrial units have been revived in the country since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21).

Speaking to the press on the occasion of National SMEs Day, Ali Rasoulian said reviving the mentioned units have created jobs for over 5,291 people, IRNA reported.

According to Rasoulian, there are currently over 48,000 industrial units based in the country’s industrial parks and zones of which about 83 percent are active.

Emphasizing that one of the most important programs of the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade is to reactivate the semi-active and stagnant production units, the official said that reviving 1,600 idle and semi-active industrial units in the industrial parks and zones is targeted for the current year.

He noted that with the mentioned 400 units being revived, about 23 percent of the Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry’s goals for reviving idle units in the current year has been realized.

“The ministry also has it on the agenda to create 28,800 jobs by reviving idle units across the country, of which so far about 18 percent has been realized,” Rasoulian added.

Last year, 1,557 stagnant and semi-active units returned to the production cycle in the industrial parks with the financing of 35 trillion rials (over $833 million), providing employment for 27,000 people, according to the ISIPO head.

With the aim of reactivating stagnant units or units that are operating below capacity, 900 consultants from the private sector and knowledge-based companies were selected in the form of industry clinics across the country to recognize the weaknesses of these units, Rasoulian has previously stated.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – As announced by the head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO), reviving idle industrial units in the country created 27,000 new jobs during the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

“Despite the two major challenges of sanctions and coronavirus pandemic, which imposed severe restrictions on the country, we tried to activate domestic capacities by turning to localizing the technology of manufacturing parts and equipment”, Ali Rasoulian stated.

Sanctions have caused problems for financial exchanges and the export of goods to other countries, he said, adding, “The negative effects of coronavirus pandemic on various parts of the country, including industry, are not hidden from anyone, and the economic growth of some countries has reached below zero during this period.”

Iran is proud that despite these restrictions and pressure from these two important challenges, its industry has grown by more than seven percent, according to the statistics and reports from various sectors, the official further highlighted.

In April, Rasoulian stated that Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry plans to revive 1,600 idle industrial units throughout the country in the current Iranian calendar year.

He said that these units are generally stagnant or operating below capacity for a variety of reasons.

Referring to reviving 1,557 idle units in the country during the past Iranian calendar year, the official said that 59 percent of those units’ problem was due to the financing.

With the aim of reactivating stagnant units or units that are operating below capacity, 900 consultants from the private sector and knowledge-based companies were selected in the form of industry clinics across the country to recognize the weaknesses of these units, the official stated.

He also informed that the new incentive package of ISIPO, which has also been approved by the minister of industry, mining and trade, has been announced.

Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki has said that over 6,500 new industrial units were established across the country during the past year which created jobs for over 121,000 people.

Touching upon the Industry Ministry’s plans for the realization of the motto of the current year which is named the year of “Production: support and the elimination of obstacles” by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the official said: “In the year that has been dedicated to the production sector by the Leader of the revolution, the orientation of all government organizations and executive bodies should be towards supporting the country’s industrial and mining units.”

Niaraki pointed to a 40-percent increase in the issuance of establishment licenses for industrial units in the previous year, saying: “The number of establishment licenses increased to more than 36,000 last year, which shows that people are encouraged to invest in the productive sectors.”

He also mentioned an 85-percent rise in the allocation of land for establishing industrial units across the country and noted that over 4,500 hectares of land were handed over to applicants in the previous calendar year.

According to the official, there are over 46,000 small and medium-sized industrial units in Iran’s industrial parks and zones, of them about 9,200 units are inactive.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – A provincial official announced that 55 idle industrial units were revived in Iran’s southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province in the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

Davood Shahraki, the head of Sistan-Baluchestan province’s Industry, Mining, and Trade Department, also said that in the field of removing production barriers, the number of approvals in the province for production units has increased from 300 units last year to about 900 units this year.

Referring to the measures that have been the background for the removing of the barriers and started last year, he added that in addition to six trillion rials (about $142.8 million) in the last two years, facilities have been provided to the industry sector from various sources.

Referring to the good events of last year in order to revive the production units, the official said that 55 idle production units were revived in the province in the last year and 19 units returned to the production cycle in its previous year.

As announced by Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Sadeqi Niaraki, 1,500 idle industrial units have been revived in the country during the past year.

According to Niaraki, over 6,500 new industrial units were also established across the country during the mentioned year which created jobs for over 121,000 people.

Iran’s industrial parks play a significant role in making the country independent through boosting production, which is a major strategy of Iran to combat the U.S. sanctions.

In fact, strengthening domestic production to achieve self-reliance is the most important program that Iran is following up in its industry sector in a bid to nullify the effects of the U.S. sanctions on its economy.
